While some of the rumors of the islands had proven true, Hakon was convinced that the one about a mirage island was absolutely fake. That is, until he saw the foggy island in the distance while walking along the beach with the foals. If he hadn’t have been looking for it, he was sure he’d have missed it, and he stood idly watching as the fog came and went on the opposite shore. It certainly was hard to discern where the land was of that odd foreign island, but now he was interested.

Runa and Fell had been watching as well, but had also preoccupied themselves with drawing crude horses and sleipnir in the sand of the beach. Loki had just sat a few feet from them, watching with interests and making suggestions. When Hakon cleared his throat to gain their attention, they’d looked up at him.

“You three want to go over there?”

“Yea!” They chimed in unison. It seemed nothing fazed the little foals as everything was an adventure. This evening would be no different as Hakon instructed them to follow him into the warmer shallows of the beach.

“Once I get in deep enough, just stay near me, I can swim you both across on my back. Alright?”

The foals nodded excitedly, waiting until the stallion had gotten deep enough in the water that they could get their forelegs over his back. While not necessarily being carried as the stallion began his swim across, they did their best to assist, kicking their back legs, albeit sluggishly as swimming was neither of their strong suits.

Once across they galloped as fast as they could to the mossy shores, prancing and cantering on the soft and squishy waterlogged plants. Runa burst out laughing as a particular bubble of moss made a squelching sound, and then proceeded to tell Fell he was gross. The little colt seemed indignant at first, but he soon joined her in laughing up a storm. While they both played, Hakon moved up the shore, to where the moss grew instead on firm rocks. The whole island was foggy, and he was sure he saw something move in the dark boughs of the trees, but no sound accompanied it.

Watching said trees resulted in no more glances of whatever had moved, so he turned toward the foals. They were gone. He couldn’t help but sigh loudly as Loki was also gone. His first thought was that they accompanied the wily fox to explore the rest of the shore, as they seemed to have enjoyed the moss more than anything else, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that maybe they were kidnapped instead.

His worries were soon dissuaded as the trio soon returned, galloping at top speed, chasing something. Something glowing and purple. What on Eoh. Hakon could only gallop after them as they rushed past, and in brief time he caught up to the group, “What are you all chasing?!”

“I don’t know!” The three called in unison once more, Runa flashing a grin his way, “It’s another glowing thing! AHAHA!”
