Description
This was what my hands were doing for the past two months whenever they could get a free moment. Which is why I've been lacking in other things like art/replying/journaling/internet surfing. The Slytherin one belongs to
The Hufflepuff one was for
The Gryffindor one is 's (who eventually got tassels, but I took the picture before I put them on)
Not pictured is the scarf I knitted for my brother, because it was black and blue and didn't fit the picture motif, but it took me just as long, lemme assure you. Two weeks for each scarf.
When I get time again, I'll knit a Ravenclaw one for myself.

It still doesn't surprise me how into Harry Potter I am... These scarves are awesome. I may have to make my own.

So cool! I'm lucky enough that my university's colours are garnet and gold and they're awesome enough to have scarves that look exactly like the Gryffindor scarves Definitely got one for myself first year and I wear it all winter
That's a lot of knitting work sitting right there!! I'm sure they were very much appreciated :3

Ooh, that is super lucky! I remember trying to find a Ravenclaw colored tie and scarf and could never find a scarf, but managed to find a dark blue and goldish-bronze tie.
And yeah, about two weeks for each scarf, but it was really fun.

Lol. A Ravenclaw tie is still pretty cool though
Two weeks a scarf?! Wow. That's awesome though. I tried knitting a couple of times... It didn't end well. Would you believe that I almost lost the circulation on my finger? ... Yeah... I don't like thinking about it.

Thanks! Well, to be honest, they're still pretty amateur scarves--and plain scarves are all I seem to be able to knit!
(I'm going to knit a Ravenclaw one for myself eventually.)

Well now you made me want one. I'll have to force my aunt into knitting me one, but which house? I love them all!
But you are extremely skillful, they look so snuggly and soft. How long are they, really?

EmpressFunk In reply to Iwrin [2010-01-01 17:31:34 +0000 UTC]
They're each about 5 feet long and hella thick. I don't what the exact measurement is for "hella" though. I do know that I measured them to be 5 ft by holding them next to me, because I'm exactly 5 ft.
I'm knitting a Ravenclaw one for myself at some point. :3

Hah, it was Red Heart! Or at least, some of them were. I'm not sure the size of my needles--they were pretty small, rounded ones. You can tell how knowledgeable I am about knitting.

The next Harry Potter movie won't be out in a while. You'll have plenty of time. I think you should keep knitting and sell them for profit. In the mean time, I thank you again for the scarf. It's keeping me warm and snuggly here in Oakland. My parents were really impressed with it and surprised when I told them it was a handmade Christmas present.

EmpressFunk In reply to Tapeworm-Comics [2009-12-29 04:58:41 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, but I also want to knit it before it gets all warm. Which shouldn't be until after March, actually...I love knitting, omg. I just need to do something besides scarves.
And that was nice of your parents to say! Especially considering you can see where I changed stripes and how the scarf is made up of two different types of yarn, but I digress. Thank you! I'm glad you like it.

My sister made me a Gryffindor one awhile ago, but I'm really a Hufflepuff so I want to make my own hat and scarf. I tried to learn how to knit but I failed epically, so I'm waiting for her to teach me.

They look comfy though.

But whyyyy? They're so comfy and warm, and people who don't know Harry Potter will just think "Wow, that scarf is huge" but those in the know will give you a secret, knowing nod.
