hOO it's been a hot minute since I made another ref sheet eh?
I've had this boi's sketch sitting around for a good while now, I just uh- sorta worked on 2 more character's ref sketches after his ha ha-

But that aside, let's talk a bit about this boi~!
This is Drogo O'Leary. His last name is pretty significant in the dnd world he's a part of, but sadly the character he's linked to hasn't gotten a full reference yet 😔 He does have a toyhouse page however~ (toyhou.se/5360113.jack-o-leary )

Drogo here is a smoke genasi, though he wasn't born that way... He was originally born as a fire genasi, much like his father. As a smoke genasi, his state of being is... complicated. Not truly undead, but not technically completely alive either. His life's flame is on it's last legs, only kept alive through his deal with his "superior". He's also a ranger, specifically a swarmkeeper. His "swarm" is a collection of will-o-wisps that follow him around, aiding him on his missions in return for him settling their unfinished business.
To aid him on his journy, his superior has gifted him two things. The first being his bowblade, the "Memento Mori". Magical in nature, it is a deadly weapon in Drogo's hands, his skills allowing him to perform point blank shots with it with no disadvantage. (Thank god for the close quarters shooter fighting style.) The longbow can easily shift into a scimitar-like bladed form and back without much effort.
The second ability he was gifted was the ability to "shadow step", easily vanishing from sight only to appear in front of or behind his prey. This combined with the spirits that surround him are what earned him his title of "The Wraith", as people speak of him like a vengeful spirit.

Drogo O'Leary grew up with his mother after his father (Jack O'Leary) left shortly after finding out he'd be a parent. Originally born as a fire genasi, his childhood wasn't incredibly notable. He gained an interest in hunting at an early age, some of the other townsfolk offering to take him along to teach him the tricks of the trade. Eventually, his mother fell in love with another man, and they had a daughter together. On the surface things seemed to be fine, but in reality his mother's new partner was constantly stealing money from them in order to get drunk or gamble away.

Once Drogo had reached his 20s, he had made a small name for himself among the town for his hunting and tracking skills, leading to him being away from home for longer and longer periods of time as he filled orders for meats and pelts. During one of Drogo's outings... his mother and her spouse had gotten into a fight over his habits, leading to the spouse killing her. Upon returning to the town and hearing what had happened while he had gone, grief overtook him. He'd spent his entire life making sure that his mother was safe and he'd failed... Much to the worriment of his half-sister, Drogo fell into seclusion, a bleak shadow of his former self. He spent most of his time drinking, unconsciously falling into the same habits that his blood related father had.

After a few months had gone by, his sadness had faded into anger. This man had come into their home and taken his mother from both him and his sister. There'd been non sign of him since he skipped town, but he wouldn't let that stop him. He was the best tracker the town had, he knew he could find him. Ignoring the protests of his sister, he set out to hunt down the man that killed his mother. He was merciless in his quest, cutting down anyone that tried to stop him with his dagger, or taking out prying eyes from afar with his bow. He left a trail of bodies in his wake as he eventually came across the man, who by this point was very well aware of what Drogo's end goal was. By the time the guards had gotten word of the "hunter", they found the cabin the man had been hiding in smoldering in cinders, as Drogo sat by the wreckage, almost in a daze from everything he'd done. He had a look in his eyes as if he had just lost his purpose.

Pronounced guilty without question for all the damage he'd caused, he was sentenced to hang in the town's square. Only once the rope was around his neck did a spark flare up inside of him. He didn't want to die, not yet, not like this. This wasn't his time to go. Unfortunately, someone heard his cries... A voice called out to him, professing it's interest in his particular set of skills. He'd done such a wonderful job at settling his own business, that perhaps he'd be willing to settle the business of others. Without much hesitation, he agreed to the deal as his body was dropped down to hang. His fire seemed to go out to those that were watching, as the flames of his hair petered out into wisps of smoke. Satisfied, the town started to disperse, and once evening had fallen, he gasped for breath as he felt his body surge back to life. His fire was just barely there, now only embers and ash. He was alive, but of course at a cost. Now in the service of a fiend, his life and wellbeing was now in the hands of another...
