Description
No one is the "bad guy"; neither do the "good guy" exist. It's war, and we both suffer. Acknowledging that, we will try to continue our existence...Together, of course.
.:Commemorating the attack on Pearl Harbor (December 7 1941) and the atomic bombing of Hiroshima (August 6 1945) and Nagasaki (August 9 1945):.
~*~
Phew, finally have the time to upload this! I'm drowning in homework and exams.
When I was browsing through art about this subject, there was one thing that intrigued me: Somehow, the artwork would depict either Japan or America as the absolute bad guy, while the other is a total innocent victim. And somehow, the first artwork that showed up when I typed "Pearl Harbor" on dA's search bar is Hetalia related. Whoa.
And that is why I decided to let Alfred and Kiku sit back to back. Because they both suffered, and they were both victims. Not of each other, but of the dark side of humanity.
And hey, I know that different people have different views on history as well as politics. Don't take me too seriously, please.
Alfred F. Jones/America and Honda Kiku/Japan, plus the Axis Powers Hetalia series, of course, belongs to Himaruya Hidekaz-sensei.
Artwork drawn on A3 paper, using 2B mechanical pencil.

The symbolism in this piece is so powerful, and so, so true. Thank you for portraying these events in such a mature and thoughtful manner. Great job with all the detail in the pic, too.

Waahhh! I love this!
I agree with you. Even though sometimes people do 'cruel' stuff to each other,
you can't say which side is the bad guy and which side is the good guy.
Because the reason war happens is the history itself in my opinion.
And personally, since I often see dark!Japan for a really good fanart focused on WW2,
I'm really happy finding a beautiful work that's not as a Japanese myself
Great work!

Ah, here it is
Dunno what to say, just.. Awesome. You're awesome, y'know. THIS is what I said, about 'your kindness' and.. well... OMG how should I say this? You're too awesome to be described by words.. We can't call this 'justice' anymore. This is pure 'kindness'. YOUR pure 'kindness'.
We'll talk about this at school. After the test. We HAVE to talk about this.

Damn the stupid me, I didn't check dA! We should've been talking today and I was sleeping all day... Sorry.
Not so sure of how I should interpret your use of the word 'kindness'.
Alright, it's decided. I'll talk to you before you read this reply xD

Yes, it's true. The true "winners" is actually the ones who don't get involved, because by doing nothing they don't lose anything.

This is so very sad, but it's true. War is a terrible, ugly thing. It hurts both sides. Even if one side surrenders and another is "victorious", I don't see there being a true "winner". There are innocent lives that were lost on both those days in history.
Thankfully, both the USA and Japan have recovered from those horrific bombings, and we have peaceful relations today. Time can change everything.
And now I just wanna hug Alfred and Kiku. :< These were scary times for them.

Yes, I know that. I really love it when I read about the relation between USA and Japan in the present days. Gives me a feeling that humanity knows how to move on; and living through the darkest moments doesn't mean those moments would never become the past. Something that felt like hope.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! I always love it when people put their thoughts and opinions in their comment - even if they disagree with me. A healthy discussion where both sides respect the other is always a nice thing, at least for me :3

I'm with you there on most of the art that's seen of WWII between them depicts one as a monster while the other acts as if they didn't know it as coming. Well, that may be a bit true for Pearl Harbor, seeing that America wasn't expecting the attack itself, but... Yeah, I digress. They were both well aware of what they were doing, and still continued to do such horrible things to each other.
Anyway, great job. This is a hard subject for me to draw as well, but I'm glad you did it well.

I'm happy that you agree with me And don't worry, you didn't digress. Me too, I also think that the attack from Japan was quite - now how do I put this? - meaner (yup, I'm out of word). Because at the time the US was trying to stay out of the war anyway.
Thank you for your compliment! This subject is not easy, very true, yet somehow it's one of my favorites. Fluffy stuffs are enjoyable to both draw and write, but I like it more when I draw darker arts that could possibly evoke some thoughts in others.

Of course I agree~ This is my favorite pairing in the whole series. And yes, exactly. I have so many headcanons about Japan's mentality during the war. I absolutely love how complex he is. And America was actually serious during this time, trying to stay out of the way while still supplying the Allies.
And no problem! I love everything this pairing has to offer, from angst to fluff. To me, it's all great and I always feel happy looking at any picture of them.
