Description
"Smoke 'Em If You Got Them"So here is my 1/35 tamiya British Chieftain Mk5. I picked this one up because
1. I might be an American, but I really dig British armor designs
2. at $18.00us you really can't go wrong!
Anyways this is a older tamiya kit, and from what I understand it is fairly inaccurate to the mk5 variant but I am not realy one that worries about accuracy. The kit was very nice and didn't really show its age. Great build with nice clean fits. no flash and some nice details as well.
I painted mine in a "model masters" euro gray and weathered with brown acrylics. This tank was semi boring looking so i loaded it up with extra gear I had laying around. The map and newspaper were just printed out and dusted with pastels. The cigarettes and cig packages are made from epoxy putty.tho they came out way bigger than I had planed and are not really to scale.
I really like the end result and the extra gear really brings this one to life. kinda feel like it needs some sort of base or diorama to finish it off.

It's awesome fun. Just have adequate internet.
Wow, really? That'll actually go a long way if you spend it wisely.

thats what i figured, it surprised me as well.
now that you reminded me, a recent trumpeter kit i did, had a insert as well. let me dig that out.... yea it says i can use an invite code for a new account and get 2000 gold, or use on an existing account and get 1 week premium, 50,000 credits, and 750 gold. which is funny cause the kit cost like $20us
the other kit is a Hobby Boss 1/35 high speed tracker( around $30us), and while i have not opened it up, it has a big shinny sticker saying i get $14.00 worth of in game stuff.

thanks buddy!
Most of the time my figures dont look this good close up(still doesn't look right)after i took the photos i noticed that part of his ear piece was flesh colored. but from a proper viewing distance on my self they look legit.

If you didn't tell me that the ear piece was discolored I never would have known. I think the figures look just fine. From my own experience, I've learned that it will never look 100% perfect, but it can come close.

yea and like you said, you probably never would of know. alot of the time we as builders can see our mistakes that others can not.

That is true, I recently repainted my Christmas train, and although I've gotten better at painting straight lines, I can still see the little jerks I made on them, even though anyone else would have to pick the passenger car up and really have to look for them, I can point them out instantly.

yup, i know the feeling. there is a spot on my Bradly(inner spare road wheel)where i missed a spot and their is bare plastic. no one has ever noticed, but it still drives me nuts when i look at it.
i have a Kv-2 tank that i just recently finished, just gotta get pics/post, and i screwed up the paint bad. so bad that half way thru it i had to strip it and start over with a different color. when i post it i am about 99% no one will ever notice(even if they read this). you really cant tell at all. BUT every time i walk by it i remember my mistake and think about it.

I know the feeling. There have been times when I couldn't strip a model because I had already decaled and clear coated it and then I noticed a mistake or something I missed. Then there were times when I had to try to conceal a mistake with paint and the mistake still showed through. But what I think I hate the most is when I finish a project and something scratches it or the paint starts to crack and chip.

That reminds me, I have to dust off my big Enterprises and I dread the tiny decals coming off with the hankie.
