Description
Out in the wasteland you need a reliable vehicle and the "Screaming Hawk" is just the ride for it! Featuring a overcharged engine, dual mounted machine guns, seating for two, turbo injector, and mono AM/FM radio! It Provides decent armor protection from all the nasty critters and wasteland hero's. the Screaming Hawk will suit all your plundering, raiding, and hunting needs! Pillage the wastes in style!"Screaming Hawk" was build with a very old (and missing parts) 1/35 German armored car( sd.kfz 250 ) Built up with extra details form the bits boxes. features two figurines(one custom) and extra stowage/gear. painted in dark tan, rust, euro gray "Model Masters" enamels and weathered in brown acrylics and pastels.
like how this one came out, and really has a max mad/fallout vibe. this project has me thinking about maybe doing a modern tank crazy like this. I haven't really beat up a tank yet and i think in this style it might be pretty sweet.

Hmm looks like an old WW2 halftrack without the tracks. I can certainly see the practical value of such a vehicle after the bombs fall. The heavy armor and armaments would serve raiders quite well. The one downside is that it seems to have limited storage space. Where is one to store the loot they plan to take home?

Half tracks weren't heavy armor though

They can't stop grenades or tank shells, but halftrack armor could easily protect against small arms fire and heavy machine guns. And those would be the most common weapons one would face in an end of days scenario.

XD it is a old WW2 halftrack without the tracks(they were missing along with a ton of other parts but was very very cheap)
lol yea i hear ya about stowage, tho it is quite roomy in the interior. they might need a big tractor for all their loot at some point....

That's what I was thinking. Perhaps that can be your next project. Or perhaps a "good guy" vehicle.

Cool. Maybe some fortifications too, like the fortified oil refinery in Road Warrior.

That's nice of you to say. Most of the work that I have posted on line is stuff I make to sell. I don't have a lot of "my personal stuff" photographed, let alone posted. I build mostly WW2 armor and figs. I never seem to have time to do any work for myself any more,as I'm always working on 2 or 3 pieces for ebay
When I started modeling I was maybe 8yrs. old; 1963 maybe, that was back in the stone age! My very first model was an Airfix 1/76 Churchill tank. I think it cost 50 cents. Man that's a lot of very small road-wheels for your first timer. I still hate that kit! And my second was a Monogram quarter scale (1/48th) Hawker Hurricane. That was about 1964. I was in such a hurry to finish the kit, I put all the decals on before I painted it. lets just say lesson learned.
Today with the internet you can find anything you need to know about modeling any subject matter you want, and can scrutinize works by master builders and painters. It's a very good tool to help anybody improve their skills and learn something knew. I spend a lot,(too much) time going over others work's on line and I always seem to pick up something
new. So I guess what I'm saying is each time you build a new one it gets a little better. My work is nothing special, I just keep doing it cause it's fun. Right now I have about 175 kits to crack the box on so It's gonna be fun for a little while longer. XD
later...b.

ahhh thank you for taking the time and telling me your story. i would love to see some of your personal projects sometime.
my story is very similar. when i was young(around 7) i got my first model and feel in love with scale models. i built a ton but most came out quite bad. some of it was inexperience and hast of a young boy. tho i did end up learning alot of lessens, lol in that time period was able to get alot of the "beginners mistakes" outta the way and learn from them.
i got out of scale modeling in when i went to collage, and probably didn't build anything for a long time. about 3 1/2 yeas ago i became physically ill(not life threatening but career ending for a bit) and i found myself with a bit of free time. i didn't want to just sit around and play video games so i picked the hobby back up and have not looked back.
the internet has really helped, but i dont try to go all out on every build. it seems like i learn slowly.everyone in awhile i think ill notice that i am getting better and thats what i find the most fun about this hobby. being able to look back and see how i have improved.
anyways keep up the awesome work, hopefully you will find the time for the 175 kits waiting for you.

thank you friend! it was really fun and in my favorite scale. figuring out the engine was pretty cool and it even has a detailed interior(tho nothing special)
thinking after my commissions i might do more of these themed rides but with different color schemes.
