Description After the last few projects, my tool boxes looked like a war zone lol. so i decided it would be good to reorganize and clean up before my next project. some people got a real kick outta seeing my tools in a past tutorial, so i thought i would show you the contents of my hobby tool boxes. this is in no way all my tools but basically everything i use on a day to day basis for my projects.
I will be describing from top to bottom, from left to right.

The "Paint" Tool box:
Tool box:a large tool box, this one houses all the paints and painting tools i use for my models and dioramas.

Trash can: its a good idea to keep a trash can near your work space, i use an old coffee can.

Disposable gloves: its a good idea to have a box of these on hand. i use these mostly when spraying and working with pastels(the dust gets everywhere)

Pastel set, pastel brushes, and pastel tray: I use pastels for weathering. i just buy regular artist soft pastels. i use some #2 brushes to apply and have a some paint cups as the containers for the pastel dust

Thinner, water, and washes: i have big containers of thinner, but in my tool box i like to keep small amounts on hand. i make washes in labeled old baby food jars

Art oil set: just a cheap set of artist oil paints, great for washes and staining effects

artist Acrylic paints: i have two cheap sets, and some academy acrylics colors tubes. i use these a lot when it comes time to paint buildings and diroamama bases. they make great washes/filters as well

Foam, alligator clips: i use the cheap florist foam and sticks with alligator clips as part holders. great way to paint parts and have them dry hands free

Small bricks of foam and pins, candle: these are what i use to pin up small parts and figurine pieces. i heat up a pin and met it into the part. that way the part or figurine can dry hands free

Q-tips: these come in handy! not only do they clean up messes and mistakes, but help out when wiping away washes/filters

Spare model car for paint tests: this is the best $10 modeling investment i have made. before i paint anything i test out the paint and other techniques on a cheap car model. when starting a new project, i just prime it again and start over. a great way to practice before you try it on a "real"project. Practice makes perfect!

Model masters Enamels: i use enamels alot of the time, and prefer the model masters when i do. they cover great and have tons of great colors in there line.

Tamiya acrylics: i have a few of there acrylics paints, i have not really used them too much yet. i can say that the flesh color is great tho!

Cheap Enamels: i have tons of theses small testors Enamels. they are pretty cheap and can be of shoty quality, but people always give me the sets as gifts(gee thanks) they do come in handy when you need just a little bit of a color(flat white) and are a good cheap choice when buy paint that you will hardly ever use

Good Brushes:
i have tons of brushes, and most are very cheap to mid range. the brushes that i find to work best for me are #4, #2, #0, #5/0 , and # 3/0.

Knife: always come in handy

Eyedropper: good for adding water/thinner to washes and paints

Pencil: come in handy, and good for marking parts

Tweezers: awesome when working with small parts, a pair of reverse pressure ones are a must.

Pliers: good for opening up stuck paint jars

Assorted brushes: i have a pretty big assortment of brushes. its good to have extras on hand, i am always destroying thru dry-brushing and other stuff. and its good to have some that you can use for a one shot application and throw away

Paint Pallet: great for the artist acrylics, no need to really clean ether, they are wicked cheap

And of course a tasty beverage, make sure you keep it away form your work tho!

now don't think you need all of this to start modeling tho. it has taken me a few years to acquired all of this stuff. and a lot of it you can find in your garage. but different tools work for different people so test out new things!
feel free to question and comment!

Well at least they get you something. I never do get anything model wise as a gift anymore. I kinda like it that way 'cause when they did get me something it was always something that I didn't want, like, or it wasn't as good as I thought it was.
