I was kinda hoping that they would make him with Gem spikes protruding from his elbows or his back or something :> But I do sorta enjoy the idea of the Gem Shield :3

When I saw Sableye mega-evolve in the released video, I swore I saw the stone on its chest separate from its body, grow in size, and become its shield. Yes? No?

That might be true, though it's hard to tell since once its giant gem appears it hides most of its body with its arms. Its chest gem did show before the large gem appeared though, so until it's shown in a different angle it could be questionable.

Yeah, I swear I saw it separate from the body very quickly and rapidly expand to create the shield. Makes sense that the jewel doesn't appear out of nowhere. But then again, Sableye is part Ghost type so anything supernatural goes.

But there is one thing I noticed. Doesn't he pull out his ruby? so there shouldn't be one left in his body?

I heard the news last night but this is the first image I've seen. Do I even need to look at the official art now? This is just awesome on the scale of bad-ass...and may have just become my favourite of the mega-evolutions on an aesthetical (looks) perspective.
