I like the idea of them being cat like I mean Mew's name is a kitty noise. In the movie all I could think of was floating pink kitty. It's playful and aloof sometimes and gets into trouble and hides toys. Mewtwo being a clone of mew automatically makes it a kitty too. I always thought of mewtwo as kind of like a mountain lion. Strong and thin.

It's really neat to see a stylistic Mewtwo with more emphasis on the cat side over the alien-like look.
Not that the alien approach is bad, but there are a lot of bald, wrinkly naked alien cat nerds that I've seen in my time here.

I've always tended to see its build as a kangaroo (look at those legs and feet. how can it not be) - while the gooey weird mew-ditto-mutant-foetus idea is a pretty good one - it's as you said, very common, and also very gross to me ahaha
