Info: Lilly was once a street-rat (or cat?), living in the slums of the port city of Ironbay, located within Sedna’s district of King’s Coast. She and her dearest friend, Ophelie, would make a scarce living for themselves through small-time theft and shakedowns, but the two of them yearned for something bigger.

They plotted to steal a prized jewel from Queen Amaryllis’ vault, located right within Amaryllis’ castle itself, all the way up in the Capital City of Faemantle. At the time of their intrusion, the young Queen’s husband had only recently died, and so the funeral proceedings had been occupying a majority of the castle’s guard. It was the perfect time to strike.

The heist went well. With the jewel within a pouch on Lilly’s belt, the two were ready to make their mistake. However, Ophelie’s greed got the better of her. While inspecting a strange treasure shaped as a snake’s eye, the spherical object had shot itself into her fellow thief’s head, resulting in screams the likes of which made the catgirl’s sensitive ears fall flat to her head. If they were so shrill, then surely, they would be heard.

Acting quickly, Lilly draped her own cat-eared cloak over Ophelie, allowing her to bite down upon the cloth as they made their escape. The damage had already been done, however. The guards were alert. They narrowly escaped running into them on their way out of the vault, and were quick to take a seldom traveled route through the castle, just as they’d originally planned.

Stopping just near their planned exit for just a moment, Lilly turned to inspect her friend’s injury. But, when Ophelie would pull her hands down to reveal the snake’s eye lodged where her left eye had once been, the catgirl felt a terrifying paralysis befall her, her body absolutely unable to budge in any direction. Not even her lips could move to make her voice heard beyond muffled sounds, no matter how Ophelie pushed or pleaded.

With the sound of footsteps catching up to them once more, Ophelie was forced to abandon her friend, as she was in no state to carry Lilly anywhere. Yet, in spite of this, Ophelie’s greed shined through brighter than her sorrow, as she made time in the midst of her apologies to pluck the prized jewel from Lilly’s belt.

Abandoned by her only friend, Lilly was left in waiting, unable to do a thing as the guards took her paralyzed form into custody. The courtmage, Hirune, was able to cure her of her paralysis before she was transported to the castle’s dungeons. Presumably, this was where she would remain, locked in a cell until the day might come that her friend would sneak back in and use that handy eye of hers to bust her out.

This day never came.

Day after day, Lilly was visited by Hirune, interrogated by supposed order of a Queen she had once heard to be kind. She would suffer for hours on end, questioned as to the locations of the jewel and Medusa’s Third Eye. Of course, the poor girl would have no way of knowing, and she did not wish to sell out her friend by name in spite of the fact that she had been left behind.

Still, Hirune was a master with her fingers. She whittled away at Lilly for months on end, and eventually, years. Until one day, she caved. She spilled all that she knew, from the whole set up of the heist that was years past at this point, to everything she knew about Ophelie at the time. Little did she know that her former friend had made a new name for herself by then. Still, Hirune seemed pleased as punch.

The next day, no interrogation came. No Hirune. Instead, it was the Amaryllis’ sister, Ariel, who served as the Queen’s Second. She revealed that it was she who had been ordering her routine interrogations. The Queen was not even aware that any such heist nor its perpetrators existed. When asked why she was questioned for so long, Ariel had merely chuckled in response. It was revealed that she had been waiting for Lilly to turn her back on her past. In doing so, she would finally be ready for the offer she had come to give. She gave Lilly a proposition to work directly under her. She would be pardoned, never to face another day of interrogation nor the inside of a cell, and in return, she would devote herself to Ariel’s service.

It was either Ariel’s side, or this room and its visits from Hirune.

Lilly accepted.

Now, she is Ariel’s Shadow. She serves the Queen’s Second in secret, aiding her endeavors in any way she’s requested to, and in her free time, she gets to enjoy the amenities and comforts of the castle… by night, that is, as the Queen is still unaware of the catgirl’s existence.

It’s the life she wanted. But at what cost?
