Description One of my ship sketches, made when I was way younger, balding was not an issue and had friends to play rpg homebrews during long, sunny weekend evenings....

One thing you can see first, is that the ship itself follows non-standard (or non-cliché) plan. It is partially due to two aims I wanted to achieve, namely:
1) unconventional propulsion system, at least for bigger ships
2) no true gravity besides centrifugal forces
For 1, you can notice a bulb in the ships' front. It is a huge projector, creating a self-collapsable space in front of the ship, used both for interstellar and sublight travel. In interstellar more it creates a bubble around the ship, nothing special. However, in subspace form of travel space altered by the projector, in front of it, is designed to "unravel forward" (sic!) and by during that "drag" the ship behind (without acceleration). Self-collapsable bubble can also work as a shield for a ship, defending it from anything that is in front of it. Its shape is to some degree modifiable but in such case it becomes more a defence system than a propulsion, usually slower than a default mode. However, due to that possibility, many tactics including "sailships" relies on a protective  "wall of shields" formation, multiple point defences, indirect warfare via drones or missiles and, if possible, flanking manoeuvres on a larger scale.
No. 2 in turn explains to some degree roundish crossection, though centrifuges installed are actually within the ship and not really big - usually spread thought the ship in order not to create a weak spot.

when it comes to the story behind... I do not remember much, though I still like what I remember . In this setting most of battles happen just by shipping large numbers of drones and support, with conclusion being large loses of drones but small to none in case of larger, interstellar ships (usually retreating when the battle starts to go south or to flee the succesfull flanking manouver). Most carriers are just simple drone transport but not the "Longbow" class. It was designed for long-range drone deployment beyond established supply range, indirect support of drone-related operations, fleet command centre and point-defence support. That is why each drone has its own dedicated dock, with anything necessary to refill it and repair after action (even rebuilding from recovered remains if necessary). Can be deployed alone (patrolling, force projection), with a support of smaller carrier or interstellar arsenal ship (especially force projection or small-scale border skirmishes), but it excels being a part of a bigger war fleet sent for a long range, "punitive" wars (multiple battles, restricted or no supply, even decade to two long).
