Description Sorta Halloweenish, right? I don't celebrate it here, but I wanted to give something creepy-ish a go.

Hints, tips, suggestions for future improvement are always welcome I tried something a little like this girl: [link]

I love it! Creepy and cool at the same time.

I think it's the eyes that scare me the most. The one on the right looks normal, so it makes the red eye all the more unusual, and both seem to stare directly out of the picture in a Mona Lisa kind of way.

She's always watching you... (O.o)

Me too! I did something I got a little inspired by ~sandoni to put little dotty eye details in. Fianlly I had the excuse to! XD

You srs? XD Hey, everyone out to experience that once! My friend and I are just gonna stick temporary tattoos today we worked out

Gotta say, she is quite pretty in a really creepy sort of way XD; I think it's the expression..no, it's definitely the expression. It looks very cold and distant. Not human, which I believe is something you were going for, at least according to the title.
The only little nitpick I have is for the grey frill on her collar. It looks a bit out of place compared to the rest of the picture which looks all painterly and pretty. But that's just nitpicking xD
Good job!

enigmatia In reply to twooost [2010-11-07 11:53:16 +0000 UTC]

Just like intended!
Ohhhhh, I used a different brush for that. I don't know what I was thinking then, if I saw it on another's artwork I'd point out the same thing. Not a nitpick, but good point. The rest is soft and hazy and then that's just there. I don't have the working-file for it anymore so I don't think I can do anything about it =[ Main idea was to draw the face so it's not as bad as it is I 'spose (: Thank you.

Halloween isn't so great. Once you get older, you have to spend $20+ on candy, and sit outside for 3 hours and pass it out to small children that get mad if they get icky stuff.

Why don't you celebrate it. Australians don't celebrate Halloween?

enigmatia In reply to LollipopInMyHair [2010-11-07 11:55:21 +0000 UTC]

Ooh, just to experience it once though! I love dressing up, see

Lots of the adults say it's a silly American holiday that shouldn't be encouraged into Australian culture Most homes don't hand out candy so a lot of the neighbourhood is devoid of any lollies to begin with.

aw thats cute Enigmatia. thats just real cute. <33333333
(i usually hate faving art cause its cute, but this is just sooo cute)
OMG THAT HAIR reminds me of my friends last halloween costume.
your real good at using one color to color something. i love the way you make it look blurry but add fine details ontop to give it the illusion of looking realistic.

fffff cause you ask and i wanna help ima gonna nitpick now (i know its your style so i dunno if you do these things on purpose)
the chin is not really defined. but i think thats the style. if ya wanted her to look younger the cheeks should puff out a bit, be fuller you know? the little button nose is soooo cute! but i cant tell where the lightsource is. so ima guessing its from the front?
gah, now i really am just nitpicking.

anyways, i love the fact that you used a really young face to add creepy onto. the red eye looks like it has a slit down it which reminds me of a snakes eye.
(i still cant get over the cute. XD)

enigmatia In reply to MingTheCat [2010-11-07 12:14:28 +0000 UTC]

What, faving art 'coz it's cute? XD Why not?
I would love hair like that, ringlets are cuteeee [: A wig or anything.
It's just like sketching in pencil, when you're tonal colouring Or shading without a base colour to colour over. I picked up the blurry+sharpness more recently, especially from looking at Impressionist works, which I'm in love with right now.

Nitpicking is A.O.K! Throw anything at me. When I ask, I want anything
..it could be my style. Or I can't draw chins. I won't lie, it's the latter
Yeah, the source is sorta above... but just considering, you know movies where there are scenes where people are in a pure white room, and you can't tell where all the whiteness is coming from? The shading just like that I think, sourceless, because the white is bouncing off surfaces from everywhere.. if you get what I mean?..

There is indeed a tiny little slit in that red eye Cyborg/terminator/cat/snake/whatever. I wanted something that looked uneasy. The whole image is totally colour-balanced, bar that one spot with that obnoxious red colour, which throws off everything and does what I feel, creates uneasiness. The creepiness on a subconscious level

ksdjfksjf because i dont even know... XD

aw. for my grade 8 grad i had ringlets. i was in loooove with them. then i cut them all off. WOOOOOOO

YOU LOVE THEM TOO? they are amazing and where my first art love. then i went off and married art neuvo. [link] which was influenced by impressionism.
(my main two reasons for love art neuvo is cause
1. they use the same mediums i use and love- ink
2. the flowing natural movement and color
or in beardsleys case [link] the amazing use of one or two lines that you can follow with your eye FOREVER.
the abstract designs he used are amazzzzinnggg. @_@

wooo! it does work! but the other eye seems to have a slit too. that or im looking at it too long and i SHOULD get back to work. XD

Hmm, art nouveau is quite nice but I can't say I'm in love with it yet Though I've had my previous interests in architectural themes!
The second example you gave me reminds me a lot of the Japanese artworks they did with the inks and that funny papyrus. I am confused though, how has it been influenced by Impressionism - I thought it was making very loose paintings because the artists in the time had bad eyesight so all the details were seen just like if we were squinting or something.. explain me please, I'm as lost as a lamb.

Aww probably could have done with it, I just thought maybe the left eye being the only hint of robotic-ness was alright, but it's not a bad consideration to the least!

Now worries! Just always keep in a mindset, even when you personally feel down about you works - I've had plenty of these days!
Ah well if you want to record, I believe you just need to download Livestream Procaster. Otherwise you don't need anything to watch other videos. Good luck!

A doll it is! Mainly those porcelain ones; my sister owns one with the arm broken off.
Well, I intentionally did this without a ref, yes, unless you count looking at the picture of the little girl towards the end of it to get an idea of a different shaped nose than to what I normally draw P:
What I had in mind though was this: [link] Which I started when I was desperate to draw more male characters
