Description We had to do a really Kindergarten project in Chemistry this semester. We were supposed to draw a storyboard of a certain chemical equilibrium on ten index cards. I thought that was boring, so I decided to kick it up a notch. Spock and McCoy explain chemical equilibrium. Those two can't do anything without arguing.

My favorite is the second to last panel. I like McCoy in that one.

i will keep this in mind when i do something like that. i once used star wars (before i was a trekkie) to explain solids liquids and gasses. it was really bad though, you did it better.

Why aren't there more explosions!? Oh wait, this film was not directed by Michael Bay. Why aren't there more lens flares!?

LOL. Well, did you like the JJ Abrams Star Trek movie?

ensignbeedrill In reply to meganbednarz [2012-02-22 03:29:19 +0000 UTC]

I have mixed feelings about it. There are some things I really liked about it, some things that just turned me off... lens flares being one of them!

I wish that it hadn't been done as an alternate universe. I wish they hadn't destroyed Vulcan and killed Spock's mom. I wish they'd never put Spock with Uhura. And some things just don't make sense (like making Kirk captain of your flagship when he hasn't even graduated the academy yet, lol). And the way it was set up, the Kirk/Spock friendship seems forced.

But the guy who played McCoy was great. I liked the pace and the action. It was cool to see Kirk's Kobayashi Maru and learn who actually programmed the test. I really liked the music.

Well, I think the point is that the Kirk/Spock friendship IS forced... I think they both feel obligated because it's their "destiny" but I'm not sure how long it will even last. Clearly they're a lot worse friends than they were in their last universe... And yeah the Kobayashi Maru test was hilarious.

I loved the pacing and action. I actually liked the lens flares too, even though they were annoying, but you know I like shiny things The music was GREAT. The villain was so stupid though

That's exactly my point. It's like Real Spock said, "You guys are supposed to be friends. SO GO BE FRIENDLY." And it happened.

I didn't even notice the lens flares the first time. Then somebody pointed them out and now when I watch it they're so distracting.

I agree about the villain... I don't think he had a very good motive. Apparently he had some back story that was cut from the movie, which made his whole plot confusing.

And what the heck is red matter, anyway? Where do they get this stuff? And if it's so dangerous that one tiny little drop can destroy a planet, why the heck are they carting it around in a blob as big as a refrigerator?

meganbednarz In reply to ensignbeedrill [2012-02-23 01:22:09 +0000 UTC]

LOL my thoughts too. Oh well, plot doesn't make sense... well, it's an odd-numbered Star Trek film, so, if the track record holds out, hopefully the next one will be better

I love bringing Star Trek into things. Especially where science is concerned. My physics teacher once had us calculate the percent-increase in speed between warp 1 and 2, and then he apologized when I brought in my Trek encyclopedia and told him he got the speeds wrong...

Yeah, definitely. They would be arguing through most of the lecture I can so see Spock teaching something like math or physics.

Student: "Mr. Spock, can you help me with this derivative problem?"
Spock: "The *logical* way to do this would be to take the exponent..."
