Very pretty! It reminds me of an O' Keefe… which is probably where your Freudian comparison is "rooted" so-to-speak. Meh. I never saw anything erotic in that woman's work and apparently she didn't either. There's nothing wrong with that interpretation, but I just find flora and fungi studies to be fascinating and beautiful to look at.

I was thinking O'Keefe when I was painting it too, though I heavily edited the source photos in Photoshop for color first (it's more interesting to paint that way.) I think subconsciously we can be attracted to certain subjects and not realize the connotation they have for other people - but I spent so long staring at this image and seeing certain shapes that Freudian was the only way to describe it afterwards!

It's fine if someone sees your work and hers that way. It's just that O' Keeffe's intention was to look at things differently–almost through a microscope–but every time people talk about her all I hear is "flower vaginas."
