>____<;; Kay, you can thank my dear friend ~theanimejump and ~L0uL0u for the title. That was all them.

This was my class animation morphing project from about.... 3.. 4 years back, I guess? Oh I dunno! It's so old! But since I finally found it after all this time I just couldn't resist the opportunity to show you guys my first ever (hand drawn) animation. I recall spending two very long weeks.. 2 hours a day, hovering over a light table (and at one time a makeshift one with a table lamp) on this......

I apologize for the odd loop to it. It was never meant to be put in reverse, so it looks unnatural. That was my teacher and the afore mentioned munchkins work. ( ;^; )

It's unclean to the point of being ghastly.
And hopefully has acceptable nudity...? ^^'' (it's not really)
You have been warned! xP

This is amazing!

I love how fluid u make the whole animation look. And it even looks fine in reverse too! And all of it from paper? what did you use to put all of it together?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EpicMyst In reply to BlasianStrike [2010-11-30 02:40:33 +0000 UTC]

Oh deaaaar
such an old animation. XD haha. I can't hardly look at it seriously now myself, but I'm glad you like it! Yes, it was all done with paper and a light table. I don't recall the program used - it was back in highschool, but a stationary board and camera hooked up to it were set up for taking the pictures of the frames. Wish I could tell you more, sorry!

Dojang [2008-05-03 13:06:10 +0000 UTC]

would be better if it went from a puddle...would allow for some rippling...

still looks awesome, how many frames?

hey, would it be okay if i maybe used this concept for a (otherwise totally different) animation?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EpicMyst In reply to Dojang [2008-05-03 21:20:12 +0000 UTC]

It would have been, for sure! But for my first attempt I had to keep it simple ^^ So a heaping pile of lovely blob-ness was just dandy

I'll check -- um, let's see.. 34 frames. Not including the beginning and end titles.

Ahaha, go for it! I'd like to see what you'd come up with!

Dojang In reply to EpicMyst [2008-05-04 03:44:46 +0000 UTC]

wow...i really thought it was more than that...it's so smooth...

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

EpicMyst In reply to Dojang [2008-05-04 20:29:55 +0000 UTC]

Oh, yes, and don't forget, I'm talking about the animation (not including the titles OR the loop added). So just the morphing bit alone, one way

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dojang In reply to EpicMyst [2008-05-04 23:30:17 +0000 UTC]

yup, i knew that...like i said, i thought it was more, you really in-betweened it well.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EpicMyst In reply to Dojang [2008-05-05 04:41:09 +0000 UTC]

That's a mighty fine compliment to give! Thanks very much!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dojang In reply to EpicMyst [2008-05-05 08:13:43 +0000 UTC]

(laughs) from me, it doesn't mean much...i don't keyframe as much as i should, so my inbetweenin is shocking...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EpicMyst In reply to Dojang [2008-05-05 19:20:35 +0000 UTC]

Man.. I wish I knew more about animation, then I might know exactly to what you are referring to when you say 'in-betweening' and 'keyframe'. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dojang In reply to EpicMyst [2008-05-06 02:16:36 +0000 UTC]

well, in this example, you probably used two extreme keyframes, the blob, and the character. then you would have put down all the frames 'in-between'...

when animating a movement, the same concept applies, but generally more keys are involved.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EpicMyst In reply to Dojang [2008-05-06 05:08:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I see what you were referring to now. ^^ Yes, we had to first make a drawing board of the thing to morph, what it morphs into and then what it would look like halfway through. Then break down the inbetweening into what's the halfway point for the morpher and the main half-way point. etc. etc.

I skipped on elaborating when I reached 5 main points on the storyboard for the animation and went straight to animating. It was certainly a great help!

Dojang In reply to EpicMyst [2008-05-06 14:05:50 +0000 UTC]

...you needed 5? (stares)...

i would have done this with just two...maybe that's why this looks so clean compared to my stuff...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EpicMyst In reply to Dojang [2008-05-08 01:57:12 +0000 UTC]

Ahah - you give me too much credit.... I think your stuff is great! (this is soooo lame compared, for goodness sake! xD) oh yeah.. =_=;; we were just learning animation for the first time so our teacher had to make it easy enough for us (big pack of lazy slobs that we were).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dojang In reply to EpicMyst [2008-05-08 12:50:19 +0000 UTC]

nono, 5 is more work...but more accurate...nothing to do with ease.

you went into more detail than i would have, is what i'm trying to say.

EpicMyst In reply to Dojang [2008-05-04 20:08:41 +0000 UTC]

Kay.. that made. my. day. kay thanks. xDDD

Probably the result of how much time I actually spent on it, I'd think. When you're working with it on paper the overall feel to it seems different, you know? ^^

I feel tempted to get back into it again! I have no light tables here but I have a table lamp and glass table, soooooooooooo... ;D

Dojang In reply to EpicMyst [2008-05-04 23:29:20 +0000 UTC]

EpicMyst In reply to Dojang [2008-05-05 19:17:25 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha - ah, well, that's just the half of it, I guess. ;D I sometimes forget to appreciate how hospitable Canadians as a whole are. I live in a bit of not-as-generous town.

hm.... how big is this thing, anyways?

like, the size of a desk, about 20 cm thick, and weighs about as much as the desk...runs on aussie powerpoints...

EpicMyst In reply to Dojang [2008-05-08 01:59:58 +0000 UTC]

xDDD *also joking about receiving it* ... besides shipping would cost a heck of a lot!

No worries! Like I said I've got my snazzy lil glass coffee table and lamp! (totally serious)
