..FOOOOOTTLLOOOOONGit had to be said. Ya sorry, I have to have some kind of excitement in my life. I haven't been all that active lately, so something from my work on DM then? (all those notes are mostly directed toward my partner in crime ~theanimejump )
So anyways. Concept work on Rubee's chef uniform for the part-time food stall (her baby) she has at DM headquarter's food court. Since she's actually an avatar of me, I figure things aughta be accurate - her food stinks. Real bad. But it's a labor of love. And she's quite oblivious to the true nature of her cooking, and no one cares to tell.

For some reason the DM pages aren't loading for me. But either way, I'd like to say how awesome this character sheet is~
First off, clothes. The clothes this girl has on are extremely defining. Part of what makes her so great is the fact you could tell this girl apart from others by her sillhouette alone! The sleeves, hat, pants, and lack of shoes all set her apart from any other character I've seen. I'm not sure how much of her character TAAS created, but I'd say you've done a wonderful job of keeping her unique even with her outline.
Take away the sillhouette idea and there's still so much to what you've got there. Like normal, I love the expressions. While this may be more of a sketch than anything, from what I can tell she seems ... energetic; sunny. Though I can't see her in the comic yet that's the overall idea I get from this. Please pardon me if I'm wrong!
Expressions aside, the posture is great. Simple enough to give a lot to this character sketch, yet not strained or unnatural. Everything seems loose and relaxed.
Lastly, clothes and details. While the hairstyle and chef hat seem to have been decided beforehand by TAAS (again, pardon if I'm wrong), they just seem to work with the overall picture by being relaxed and simple. I'd like to add that I love the current size of the hat~
The shirt and pants are poofy, and that's where my bias comes in; I've always loved poof. Pirate shirts and the like just look good all around to me. That's part of why I love this outfit, for sure. But not only is the shirt poofy with its sleeves, the /pants/ have that same look. It creates a great uniformity and gives meat to her seemingly skinny, energetic body. It's an awesome, skillful touch. When you add the chef hat to it she really just looks great.
With all that poof though you need something to even it out. While an apron is nearly expected on a chef who says "Five dolla footlong!" there are a few great touches to this one that set it apart. It's rectangular (not all that special, I know~), giving us a nice reminder of where to look for her body. The straightness of it all still draws the eye down in a subtle way. More straight lines with the "neckline" and pouch help in that there's more than just white everywhere. The flowers do the same, with a touch of femininity and energy again.
So there you have it: a wordy list of what I like and why I like it! Again, I'm not sure how much TAAS came up with before you drew her, but you've done a great job with all of it. As always, I feel like I'm learning by seeing your art, so please continue the great work!
One more final note: I /love/ the spoon. It's a great chef-esque touch~!

heheh. no worries. ;D Anyone who hasn't been with us at the projects birthing will get confused by the different things I say about it. TAAS is the combined name of me and ~theanimejump (just our joint pen name by which we produce things together with a copyright)
So basically, this was concept work for our character Rubee (who is basically a representation of me) in some clothing besides her usual attire. I quickly did it up to throw at ~theanimejump to get her feedback on the design (which will be subject to change, if need be).
Poof is a little known addiction. It's a hard one to break, to be sure. I'm glad you caught that too. The desirable part of the poof is that it makes her already skinny limbs seem all the more extreme up against the sheer overbearing size of her clothing. Coooooontrast~. I had hoped they would come out like sticks. XD Goofy lil girl that she is.

I love the name, too. Rubee sounds pretty high energy somehow. This is a representation of yourself, huh? I can't help but wonder what you're like in person; I bet if you and I ever met face-to-face it would end up pretty eventful somehow.
The poof certainly was a good touch, though. I think the contrast is perfect, if it has any bearing.
(I'm pretty sure spoons would win in most cases. Except maybe against a whisk.)

ah, that took a long time to master, I'll tell you. Comes with experience, but mostly just practice. I stunk royally on a great many things at one time too. ;3 Don't feel bad.
