Description Happily uploaded (finally) on the same day as ShortGreenPigg's DD for the tutorial used. Congrats to thee!

Several (over 5) hours in Apophysis before render, well over 50 triangles, and the only thing I failed to figure out was a proper weighting to make the notes "thick" and make fading "even" at best. However, I am proud nonetheless, and encourage you all to check the tut out and play around with it - the approach is surprisingly simple, and the possibilities are worth exploring. [link]

Two points of interest, I've managed to create an eighth-note rest, but no flats, so I shifted those notes down a half-line and used sharps instead.

Also, while I am not a Final Fantasy addict, the notes used do come from the series (The short victory song).

EDIT: Please, feel free to save this as a wallpaper. It was requested as a print, please do not let that deter you from setting as your WP, and if you'd like a custom resolution or tweak, note me!

very nice,
I did the note tut. before and could not get it to work and it was only because of the b/w gradient.
?- how did you get it to work.

Hmm, it's been a while since I've played with this in apophysis. I believe I just followed step by step for the example, then changed things to fit what I'd need. The shape is determined entirely by the final transform, otherwise the 48ish triangles used were just repetition of examples from the tut. I'd be happy to share the parameters with you, if you'd like.

Yes, i would enjoy looking at the parameters and seeing how the notes were made and then tweak the transforms...just note me if you would.

Thank You,
sb

wow! at first I was like bs this can't be fractals this isn't colourful lines and blobs and stuff, but you kinda explained it and i was like wow! so this is totally amazing.

I'm happy that you chose white and black, if you used any other colour it probably would look weird. Such a great job

Sure, let me check whether or not I still have the params and that they load in the latest version. Note me if you would like any particular sizing, I would be happy to adjust it.

I must say, that those notes make no sense >___> but looks good

EqualibriumX In reply to Deceneace [2009-12-29 00:16:52 +0000 UTC]

It's three measures long, starting at the measure with no sharps. I had to transpose the notes into a key with sharps, as making flats or other notation was a little beyond me. Though not properly noted, I believe it's 2/4 time, or at least that's the intent. It looks a little off, but I haven't worked on this for nearly two years

Thanks!

It's the trill at the end of the modern final fantasy battle - dadadada-da--da-da_da-da Or something like that People use it as ringtones often too, I think.

Fractals are a complete mystery to me.. but this is frickin awesome. Seriously.
I love the curves and waves... and the overall pattern that it makes is incredibly eye pleasing with the amount of symmetry in it. The way the lines come forward and SWOOSH outwards like that is so cool, it makes for a really nice frame. ^^

I can't look away from this... An odd request, but would you mind if I saved this to use as a desktop, and only that? It's just so elegant looking, and I'm a music addict... I understand if the answer's no.

Wait, nevermind, this is a print Ignore the last question, I wouldn't have asked if I'd seen it was for sale.

EqualibriumX In reply to Draith [2008-02-12 16:46:31 +0000 UTC]

Hah, someone asked me to make it available as a print. Normally I wouldn't do that. By all means, save it as a desktop. That's the reason I size my fractals the way I do. If you need a different resolution, I'd be happy to re-render it for you

Thanks so much too!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Draith In reply to EqualibriumX [2008-02-12 17:04:39 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! That's very kind of you to size them that way. This is definitely my desktop for a while! It has that eye-pleasing quality that makes it good for that...

EqualibriumX In reply to flora-baggins [2008-02-12 03:26:48 +0000 UTC]

I've finished rendering the second one, it's the same song though. I'll inevitably do another piece, though I'm limited to 3 measures or so, so while I considered a full page of Mozart (that would be a LOT of triangles), I am thankfully saved from that option. At present. Soon I may find a way to do more, to my own detriment
