Little icon commission I picked up in my spare time for !The fun little indecisive switcharoo idea was all hers! I had fun bringing it to life!
I'm still working on finding a simple way to price icons--especially these sitting ones that have so many different possibilities! Some are so much more complex than others and take hours to make, but some take only one hour; so doing a flat rate isn't really the most advantageous. But I really like having one payment all up front. Any ideas?

For me, I'll be bringing nothing but plushies. I wanted to possibly bring my machine, but to what point? To save yourself room, you might ask do you really NEED to bring your embroidery machine? I plan to do my test run later whenever I have more stock (and more room than just a dorm) so I can more accurately gauge how I want to do my set up. I still doubt I'll invite anyone else into my booth, though... You're not as horrible as I am selfish XD
I know I'm not crazy about working on ponies in multiples at a time either. But, I'm going to try to get over that and get my tushie working! As soon as this paper gets done... Grumble grumble...

I plan to bring mostly plushies, my metal cubes, and my machine.
I think bringing my machines is very important, cause people can watch it work and I cam make stock while I sit there. Not to mention I live near the convention center, so I don't need to deal with it on a plane, or worry about it getting lost, or not making it on time though the mail.
I plan to do another test run a month in advance. But, I don't need all my stock out at once. I can put up one sitting Derpy, and leave the rest in the box until one sell. Then when I am run out of stock of one type, I fill the gap with what I have left. At least that is how I think it should go. I'm trying to keep it form looking cluttered.
Yeah, I'm not sure if I want to do BronyCon again next year, but I'm going to keep an open mind on it.

Well, I suppose I was a little mistaken there--I'll be bringing wire cages, product bags, convention bags, my suitcase for the weekend... Quite a few things in that respect. Unfortunately I live nowhere near Baltimore lol. I'm not looking forward to packing my car and the drive...
After BC this year I'll think about next! I'll be in a super different position next year, so I might even be in a better spot. Or I could be out of the fandom (hopefully not), but I have no idea! A year is too far to think in advance right now while I'm prepping for this year!

I wish I could buy bags with my logo on them, but all the ones I find are crazy costly. @.@
Oh, wow your driving, that sound fun/worrisome.
BronyCon 2016 is super far away. @.@

Really? They switched the location? I thought they confirmed the BCC for, like, the next 5 years.Β
I got my bags from discountfavors.com. Got 100 for $100 which is really great considering most places are $250+! And, the quality isn't too bad. The imprint was nice, and the bags weren't crazy low quality. Definitely on the cheaper end, but not fall-apart-cheap.

LOL, I mean time wise, not distance. Then again, I can move with only a months notice at anytime. My husband is Air Force.
That's sounds pretty neat, tough $1 a bag is still costly for me. T.T It would be really cool to have one with a logo, but I'll probably just buy some plain ones. Though Maybe I can make a stamp or airbrush it on.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea! Especially if you don't have so many plushies. I know I'm still going to come back with quite a few XD

It would make sense to have at least one bag per one pony. So If I make 30 then I would only need to spray 30 bags. But I guess my efforts would be better suited for making more plushies. ^^ll I think I am getting carried away again.

It's easy to do. ^^ll There is so many things that I want to do, but time and money is always a limiter.
I just ordered 50 Medium t-shirt bags in purple, and 100 small di-cut bags in purple. That should be more than enough.

Definitely! I was only able to afford one size of bag, so it's going to look a little funny! But, that's okay I'm super looking forward to BronyCon!

I am too, but I still want it to stay far away until I am full ready. I wish that was possible.

Yeah, that's a really nice wish XD I don't think I could ever be ready enough. I got a few beanie "skins" sewn today. I'm going to try to start doing some sewing at the least. Not a lot of room to store full plushies, but at least I can make unstuffed carcasses!

LOL, That sounds a bit scary. But I understand. My area I keep ponies is meant to hold more than 15 at a time, so it's going to be pretty crazy for a few months with ponies everywhere. XD
I'm sadly back to my commission list this week. So I need to work hard and get the two I plan to make this week done, and then sneaky work on the some Bronycon stock. But with all the outfits for Derpy, I doubt I'll be able to get the two done. @.@

Question--you may have mentioned this before--do you have a job outside plushmaking?
π: 0 β©: 1
kiashone In reply to equinepalette [2015-04-14 01:03:33 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, but some outfits take all day to make. @.@
Outside of plush making, the only things I do is house work, dishes, meals, volunteer work for the Air Force, and baking for charity events. So I don't really have much to do. ^^ll Plushing takes most of my time, but I still seem to slack off. ^^ll

equinepalette In reply to kiashone [2015-04-14 01:49:33 +0000 UTC]
That's okay! Naps are always nice. I've been on a really great bed early-wake early schedule lately, but I've been on a multitude of sleep schedules before. I've been nocturnal before, which included me working at night and napping throughout the time I wasn't in class. It worked pretty great for awhile! I've always wanted to try one of those fancy "nap only" schedules that increase your productivity by sleeping less but more efficiently.
π: 0 β©: 1
kiashone In reply to equinepalette [2015-04-14 11:39:11 +0000 UTC]
Before I was married I would sew from the hours of 9pm-5am, but I can't do that anymore. So my sleep has been off now. I'm just so use to be nocturnal.
I don't know if a nap only schedule would be good, cause that could mess up the REM sleep you need to live. Which is hard to get in naps alone, unless a nap is over 3 hours.
π: 0 β©: 1
equinepalette In reply to kiashone [2015-04-14 14:20:22 +0000 UTC]
It's an interesting way if training yourself. Essentially, you train yourself to go into REM sleep nearly immediately upon falling asleep. You start off with the siesta--which is just one nap in the afternoon like most Europeans already do, and move it to two naps, then three, etc until you're at six 30 minute naps at specific points in the day which give you all the rem sleep you need. It's not good for people in the work force because you can't miss the nap by more than 5 minutes or you'll throw everything off, but you end up sleeping 3 hours, feeling perfectly rested, and have 21 hours of your day to be productive. Seems like a neat idea at the least!

kiashone In reply to equinepalette [2015-04-14 18:11:46 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, still seems risky to me. But I mean the worst that can happen is you get really tired in the middle and fall asleep at the wrong time.
I'll just stick to what I have to do currently, so sleep at night and a nap in the day. ^W^I guess you could call is a siesta.

On GaiaOnline back in December 2006. It was a accidental meeting.
He messaged me on how to use the ink, cause he saw I was selling ink in the market place. Normally, I would just delete that message, but I felt like I had to reply back. Not sure why, I just really did. We staid in contact and in 2010 he finally asked me out. After that he visited me a few times, and then after he got out of basic, and earned enough to were we can buy stuff we needed we got married.

That is adorable! XD That's really fortunate you guys were close enough to actually visit once or twice, at least! I started dating my boyfriend freshman year of high school, but we actually met in 6th grade. He got dumped into my Spanish class for getting in trouble in the computer class, and turned around to ask me if he could borrow a pencil. Smitten as a kitten ^^

I only have 7 full ones complete. ^^ll
1 body fully sewn with no mane yet. 1 mane fully sewn witn body only partly sewn. 2 cut out and waiting, and 1 embroidered only.
And I still have commissions to do. @.@ So don't worry, you'll be able to catch up. I don't think anyone is too far ahead...except whitedove. @.@ She has a lot started. I am so envoius of plush makers with assistants. T.T I can't get a single person to help out. Not even to help stuff. (Then again, I would end up stuffing it over again, cause that can even get messed up. ^^ll)

Ugh, don't remind me about commissions XD I really wish I would have just not accepted any of them in the new year, but they're really helping pay for expenses!
I didn't realize WhiteDove had assistants. I had an inkling with as fast as her stock has come along, but I didn't know for sure. Not that it's a bad thing at all, it just makes me feel a little less stressed they I don't have as much done XD

Just be glad your commission list isn't 25 plushies long. @.@
Yep, her two kids help out, as well as, her mother. So she's a bit better off than most plush makers. I really wish someone would lend a hand. I'm so tired of being a one person operation. I almost got an apprentice a few weeks ago, but she never call me back. I think I'm just going to give up hope on that.
π: 0 β©: 1
equinepalette In reply to kiashone [2015-04-29 21:14:14 +0000 UTC]
Not 25 plushies long, but a lifesized pinkie with a gala dress and a 24 inch maud XD (And some overdue stuff that's ridiculously inexcusably late at this point )
I wouldn't give up! I've honestly considered hiring an assistant before, because family tends to... flake? Lol. My sister has a job and hasn't gotten a lot done and my boyfriend helps only when I ask him to, and when I ask he gets a bit sassy (as in, he's happy to help me, but not happy to do the work, so it's a bit of a chore) so I don't like to ask him.
π: 0 β©: 1
kiashone In reply to equinepalette [2015-04-30 00:19:36 +0000 UTC]
Yep, I'm not going to even touch life size plushies. @.@ Good luck with all that.
I've wanted one for so long, but no one every contacts me back.
I've begged my husband to help, he just refuses, cause he just wants to play games. He always tells me he'll just mess it up, but he never tried once. I even tried to get him to man the embroidery machine. There is only one way to mess that up, and I'll set all the thread colors in order so he can't. I'm beginning to think he loves his computer more than me.

equinepalette In reply to kiashone [2015-05-01 18:43:11 +0000 UTC]
Bah, I don't think its that. My boyfriend is the exact same way. It's just his passion, like plushing is yours. I know if I really want to sew or draw, I've made efforts to find polite ways to refuse when people ask me to do other things. My boyfriend was legit scared to mess things up at first whenever I asked if he would mind helping me for a bit, so he made the same excuse. "I don't want to mess it up. I know how expensive all this stuff is." He really started helping me and taking a chance whenever I sat him down and was like, "Look, if I don't get your help, I'm not going to get it all done. I NEED you." He started helping a bit and then more and more. It's still a chore to get him to get started because he'd also rather just play his video games, but the little help is a start.

I'll try talking sense into him. Maybe he'll come around.
I've been slowly getting work done. Though my list is 25 ponies still, and I only have 7 ponies ready for BronyCon, 1 half done, 2 cut out, and one embroidered.
Here's an odd question I've been struggling with. I have one Fluttershy with Flirt eyes embroidered, and I'm thinking about making the 2nd Fluttershy sitting with a pouty look. Do you think a Fluttershy who looks like she is getting a time out would sell? She'll be super cute, but I'm unsure. My plan was to make "duplicates" of each type. But I change something about each one. Like my Derpy's.
π: 0 β©: 1
equinepalette In reply to kiashone [2015-05-02 03:27:59 +0000 UTC]
That's somewhat of what I'm doing. I'm bringing two beanies, but in each pair one has a stock expression, and the other is something a bit more dynamic. I think a pouty Flutters would EASILY sell! Getting something unique is going to help a lot.
