With the Olympics clawing itself ever closer, plans and preparations were on everyone's minds. No one could have a passing conversation without the other person adding "will you be watching?" "Who are you supporting?" "Who do you think will do well?" Or in Laura's case, "will you be competing?" A question that had her fidget; a question that she had convinced herself she didn't know the answer to. "Oh, I haven't given it much thought, yet." "We haven't really discussed it." All lies.

She had initially dismissed the idea when she received an email offering her the opportunity to be on the British Olympic team that year. She believed that while her performances had been fairly consistent over the previous season, she didn't match the level of experience other athletes competitors had to be able to handle that level of competition and still felt like a clumsy fawn trying to keep up with rest of the herd. Then, there was the added guilt of being called up while Seb had been denied the chance to represent his home country next to his home town; she was just adding another kick in the gut for him, no matter how much he encouraged her to take the chance.

Nerves? Of course. Everyone and their dog would be nervous about representing their country. Representing the country. Laura swallowed at the thought. The biggest weight anyone in the sport could bear.

"The weight of the medal round your neck wouldn't be so bad, though," Angelica murmured through the quiet air of the early morning, picking away at the splinters of wood of the fence she leant against. Was Laura just thinking out loud?

"There are 16 year olds competing at the Olympics while I'm still pushing doors that say 'pull,'" she murmured in response. They both strained smiles, trying not to laugh.

Making the choice to accept the offer or not never failed to play on her mind, but the Expo was an excuse to delay the thoughts one week more. For now, her focus was on getting Lana round the course in one piece. It was a valuable event to build her confidence and experience and the young mare had big horseshoes to fill, if her family was anything to go by.

Fast-forwarding to the morning after the Grand Prix cause life wouldn't let me finish Seb and Varra's entry : (
But hellooo Lana is finally out in the big, wide world <3
