Description
i yell at the clouds between sunrise dreamstheir whispy constellations forming unresolved patterns
that hide and wink with conspiracy
"the devil is in the details"
she said,
but her voice is more whisper than sound
and I wonder if she was ever really here
i climb into bed and close the sheets behind me
to lock away the day
hiding my fears behind the substance of sleep and repetition
"identity is not who you are"
she said,
"but what you do"
and her voice is more thought than whisper
and I wonder if she was ever more than me

Ironically, I didnt think much of this one when I wrote it. It was just something that sat "unfinished" for a few months until I realized the reason I couldnt finish it was because it was done.
I am glad you liked it and that last verse was a little tough to write.

I can dig it. I love the line "i climb into bed and close the sheets behind me". That is how we all feel at the end of a trying, pensive day such as you describe here.

I agree that you've done (and are doing) better work, but whoever chooses features like this also hopes
it'll bring you to the attention of deviants who may not have otherwise known about you. In a good way.
That's what features are for. Right?

Done I agree with. Are doing? Meh, I dont know. I hope so. Im going to be posting some new pictures soon and hopefully some new writings. I dont know.
If its not up to par, I can count on you to let me know.
True. Features can be good for recognition and perhaps thats why whoever submitted it did it.

I know the feeling. LOLΒ I was offline for 4 days before I knew I had one; when I came on, I did a double take, screamed "OMG I GOT A DD"!! - Made poor hubby who was sitting peacefully watching t.v. jump a mile.
Enjoy. You certainly earned it.

I'm one of the few that still checks DDs on a daily basis and sometimes it makes me sad to compare the exposure they get now vs the one they got a few years back...
π: 0 β©: 1
Eremitik In reply to Lintu47 [2015-09-24 00:19:28 +0000 UTC]
I check them each day. Its part of my routine. However, like most things I fave, it has to grab my attention.
I never really had much exposure.
π: 0 β©: 1
Lintu47 In reply to Eremitik [2015-09-25 18:36:01 +0000 UTC]
Same for me, but i still check them. And since that work received a DD it really deserves more attention, it used to be a great way to get artists noticed.
π: 0 β©: 1
Eremitik In reply to Lintu47 [2015-09-26 09:47:07 +0000 UTC]
Exactly. I just wish to they would expand the categories a little. I do tend to see a lot of similar work posted all the time and it seems from the same people too.
π: 0 β©: 1
Lintu47 In reply to Eremitik [2015-09-26 10:28:13 +0000 UTC]
Some of those works are from well known artists that already have multiple DDs, and while i admire them for their art, i'm tired to see them every 6 months and i really think unnoticed artists should have priority over well known ones.
π: 0 β©: 1
Eremitik In reply to Lintu47 [2015-09-27 10:35:43 +0000 UTC]
Exactly. Its the same with the writing DD's. There are days when there is nothing literature based at all. Like today. Its kinda sad that with all the art here there isnt a larger variety of styles and artists being featured.
Sounds like a group that needs to be created.
π: 0 β©: 1
Lintu47 In reply to Eremitik [2015-09-27 12:34:40 +0000 UTC]
I think that's because the lit category isn't as popular as the other ones, in the sense that there are not as many people browsing it and also there aren't as many writers as, let's say, digital artists or photographers, therefore there are less people who suggest works from it. I think the Lit CVs are amazing and do their best in promoting this category, i've rarely seen CVs from other categories be as involved as they are. So really, i think the community has the power in this case, the more we send suggestions, the more Lit DDs we'll have And the same logic applies to the other categories that are featured every now and then.
π: 0 β©: 1
Eremitik In reply to Lintu47 [2015-09-30 08:59:57 +0000 UTC]
Agreed. Plus, its more work to actually read something than it is to just "look" at something else.
I have had about 70% of my lit suggestions accepted as DD's. I havent suggested one in while but I havent been as active as I once was either.
It is hard to slog through all the lit work out there to find the gems. On the occasions that I have time to look for new favorites, it seems I go through about 10 pages of submissions for every piece I like. To find something I love, is more difficult.
π: 0 β©: 1
Lintu47 In reply to Eremitik [2015-10-01 22:07:33 +0000 UTC]
Indeed! And most people would rather just invest a couple of seconds into looking at a picture rather than taking more time to read a literature work ):

bedlamfornow [2015-09-05 00:48:10 +0000 UTC]
It's so great to see something from you!Β The pretty language and soft-edged imagery are true center pieces here.
'i climb into bed and close the sheets behind me'
This is my favorite line. The wariness, the undercurrent of sadness. And the finality (of what, I am not sure) suggested by 'closing the sheets', as a opposed to something more familiar like 'pulling' is very striking.Β A wonderful job, dear.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
Eremitik In reply to bedlamfornow [2015-09-08 09:00:06 +0000 UTC]
Thank you.
I used closing because it feels more final, more isolating than the familiar "pulling"- something I was trying to get across.
I have a lot of poems that feel almost done. I am not sure if its because there is actually nothing more to add and I dont see it, or if its my desire to just want a longer poem.
As always, I am glad you liked it and I enjoyed your comment.

Oh wow... beautiful and thought-provoking! Your muse is much smarter and more introspective than mine... she just sits in the corner drooling and mocking me. Your imagery here is wonderful and the way you have used the quotes keeps them from being mere cliches.Β

Eremitik In reply to LaurenIpsome [2015-08-27 09:28:15 +0000 UTC]
My Muse is a tease at best now- although she used to put out quite a bit.
Most of my work is introspective. Its what I understand best.
As for your Muse- its just different- you writing about Bunny is pretty damn good as far style and technique- its not just the sexy parts that keeps people reading- well, at least I dont just read for those parts.
As far as your poems? I read most of what you post and being so early in the morning when I am on here, I seldom find myself in the mood to decipher them and exam underlying meanings and such. Thus, I havent faved them. I dislike faving and running.
Thank You for the kind and thoughtful words. I am glad you liked this and appreciate the faving and comment immensely.

LaurenIpsome In reply to Eremitik [2015-08-27 15:57:30 +0000 UTC]
Ha ha.. Yeah, muses are like succubi, get what they can out of you until your spent, then they move on.
Introspective is good, so long as you don't "over-do" it the way I do. Just makes you end up hating yourself.
Most of my poetry is emotional vomit. It's how I get through my days. It's not pretty, but it helps. Not sure there's much to "study" there or decipher. Some of them, yes, but the rest, just me rambling about lost loves, lol. No need to comment or fave everything, dear, it happens, especially in the morning! And yeah, I hate to fave and not comment, but I refuse to leave: it's good! or I liked it! Sounds so trite! Even if I suck at critique, I try to be thoughtful in my comments.
You are most welcome. You should write more, you're very good at it.

Eremitik In reply to LaurenIpsome [2015-09-01 09:07:42 +0000 UTC]
Hmmm. Maybe we are the succubi draining our muses.
Im pretty sure I wont hate myself- I am aware of my faults and shortcomings but dont try to dwell on them so much as correct them when I realize I am in one of those moments.
If I find myself lacking in the commenting, I will generally just use my "bow" emojie. It feels a little less like the trite comments of Good job, love it, etc.
Lately I have found myself at a loss for words when trying to comment on something I enjoyed reading. Its like I just cant figure out what drew me to enjoy it. Aw, shucks. Thank You. That means a lot to me.

I hear ya, me too. I'm just lacking in the "Why" of late.
