It's a less "Street-ish" framing, I know, but a closer framing would have made it too in-your-face, like a good joke shouldn't be too obvious. In this one, I prefer it that the watcher is drawn in by the symmetrical architecture and the setting, and that with a delay, they say: hey, there are people there, wtf are they doing? Plus, for me the emptiness and solitude around them are part of the situation too.
