Description Whomps first appeared in 1996's Super Mario 64 for the Super Mario 64, they later appeared in the Nintendo DS remake of the Nintendo 64 of the same name, Super Mario 64 DS, and they also appeared in New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS. They appeared in the sequel to Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2. They appeared in New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Nintendo 3DS. They also appeared in a lot of Mario Party games, Mario Tennis Aces during the game's Adventure mode, Super Smash Bros. For Wii U as a trophy and as well as Whomp's first appearance in Paper Mario: Sticker Star for the Nintendo 3DS (The game is also known as Paper Mario: Super Seal in Japan). Originally, Whomps were going to be enemies in the beta version of Sticker Star as seen in early screenshots and as well as early gameplay footage. However, it was later change and only having one Whomp in the final version during the second half of the Bowser boss fight. After Sticker Star, the Whomps never appeared in Paper Mario: Color Splash or even the upcoming Paper Mario: The Origami King as the time of this deviation. In the Mario & Luigi series, the Whomps also appeared in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam (Also known as both Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros and Mario & Luigi RPG: Paper Mario MIX in other regions) but in the form of Papercraft Whomps. And while Whomps were not in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey (Also known as Mario & Luigi RPG 3 DX in Japan) but there's some lines of dialogue claims that the blorbed Goombas have knocked several of the Whomps down. And interesting enough, there was unused sprites of the Whomp overworld sprites that was find in the data of Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time (Also known as Mario & Luigi RPG 2x2 in Japan), they were likely going to be used as friendly NPCs in Thwomp Volcano at some point during development.

This is a sprite sheet of Whomp in Paper Mario style.
