Love creating new original characters! Just came across 5 sheets I never scanned in of various male-looking heroes and baddies for the Leading Edge "Angelverse"! These are the results from three of them. Generally I create a very light template of an average hero-body, one for males, one for females, and start drawing over the faintly printed figures, fabricating "looks" and knowing the physiognomy can be altered later (if the OC needs to be skinnier, more top-brawny, more alien, etc.). Great for getting a first rough look at new characters! Then, after loading them into PS, the color applications can dramatically affect the vibe of a character. Throw out green, use red, add black, no white, and so forth. I don't color the ones I later judge to suck despite my best efforts to revise. Sometimes you gotta know when to quit! Hah! You finally are left with quite a line up! I will definitely assign names and powers (already have for some) to many of these newbies. Sky's the limit, yo! The good news is, I also found several sheets of babes as well! More to come! Gonna be busy this week! lol!How do you guys go about creating new characters, new looks?

I'm curious what names you could use to describe them. I've come up with a few for them myself:
-Chalk-Fists
-Burlap (Hooded Guy)
-Vespa (Guy with Antennae)
-Green T!

It's a template, of course. As I explained earlier, I can change physique types at my discretion, this just gives me a general sense of look and vibe. As for the names, hey - you have a distinct knack for this! Crisis Comics must be in good hands!

I find it hard to believe that all the good names are taken. Usually if I'm looking for a character concept, I use 4 methods:
-Look for a word that isn't taken ("Tabby", "Stratagem", "Bouncer")
-Make a pun mashing two concepts together ("Snowclone", "Bloodgates")
-Adjective + Noun ("Mad Bomber", "Limitless Man")
-Creative Misspelling ("H'elbat")
I'll even give you a villain name you can use for free: "Sinkhole"

Ah, thanks man but I'm good. I've got a spreadsheet with at least 500 or more unused names that I dole out one by one. But I STILL end up thinking up new names for future characters. Names are no problem! lol!

looks good bro, been a while since you've posted anything! You got a few solid designs here. As for bottom right (everyone's favorite haha) how about valiant or the veteran, depending on which direction his origin and bio go.

Thanks, Joe. Valiant was my first gut reaction to him, back-up was Venge, an obscure word meaning avenge or vengeance. I'll probably make his origins from the past so I can use it. Here's a case where a character's entire back-story and name can emerge from the damn "V" on his chest! lol!

Wow! Love all of the ones here. My personal favorite though is probably the one in the bottom left corner and the one 2 slots next to it (the one with the orange hair).

Cool! I like that you like the one you picked. He was one I was unsure about but it's cool that everybody likes different thiings! My fave so far is bottom right! Um...Nameless Man!

Coming in dribs and drabs. Nice to have an arsenal of carefully considered standby characters from which to choose without having to scramble and think of something off the cuff.
