So I decided to look at some DGM confessions...I knew that about 30%-50% of them would be about Lenalee(...AND I WAS RIGHT), but I still took the shot...And so I saw this confession where it said 'I don't hate Lenalee for reasons people may think.', And those top words where the explanation behind the confession. (Ain't it sweet?:3)
AND THE OTHER STUFF IS AAALL ME.
I tried to be funny(as in, I was half joking about some things, so don't be overly-emotional if you decide to 'disagree' about something here), aand hopefully I was.
Sorry if this is offensive to haters who are different than these kinds and/or are respectable.
Boy, I really need to catch up on that Lena-hate article I'm making...LHS, Y U NO HAVE FEW REASONS TO HATE HER?
And WHY am I wasting my time making these discussions?

She annoys me from time to time, but I don't hate her. I like how strong she is, and while the crying does get a little aggravating, it's also understandable. She feels powerless, even though she isn't; she's constrained by authority (and the baggage they inflicted), she saw a few massive betrayals and lost many of her good friends. I just hope that she comes out of it and reaches her "breaking point" where she can begin to act out soon.

I have to agree with you - it never fails to amaze me the people who misinterpret or try and change what an author obviously intends to write. If they've got such a better idea, then let them write their own original stuff and see how many people follow it.
DGM is popular for a reason, and it's not because Lenalee is such a horrible character. 'Meh' indeed!

I hate her....... Why she didn't fight, instead of cry?? And sorry, but I hate lot's of woman characters just like that.... for example: Haruno Sakura...... Whine too much....

Where didn't she fight?
Need I remind you that she was the one who beat up:
1. the First Level 3 Akuma.
2. the First Level 4 Akuma.
3. all the Komurins except the first.
4. Others
In the Ark Arc she didn't fight because she could barely move her legs because Innocense was mutating. Allen had an Arc of his own for that himself, but no one complained about that. She even tried fighting that box Road put her in when she knows that she could escape from it even if she DID have her Innocense, I don't see how that's weak.
SH....Well, I haven't caught up with the series, but I DO remember that Sakura seemed to fight enough, not to mention that it's her character that's strong.

Oy, Goddamn, why do people have to go so low?
Not only does this comic show how incapable of understanding good writing the DGM fans are, but the comments show how little of Lenalee's great characteristics showed BEFORE they remember(the respect-o-meter for ol' GazeRei is going further down...).
So, let's get to the point:
1. Lenalee currently isn't given any oppurtunity to fight, or at least in that chapter I don't see somewhere in a fight she could fit in. BUT at the very least, UNLIKE most of the order, she was the ONLY one brave enough to go and see what happened to Allen, despite her knowing that there were two options: one, he would have actually turned evil, and if she went near him, she would surely die, not because she can't fight, but because she loves him too much to want to hurt him, and two, if he was still good there would surely be something wrong with him and/or the Noah would probably protect him or so. She was lucky she was kind of late, I suppose.
2. Fanservice? Really? LHs, again, stood low in my eyes. I'm pretty sure that Hoshino DID partly make her skirt short for fanservice, or to attract males(it IS a shounen manga), just like Arakawa does with Winry(FMA)'s top.
BUT I seriously doubt Lenalee could have such flexability if she wore pants, and judging by how tight the BO's uniform pants seem, I'm pretty sure even Komui thinks that. There also may be other reasons as to why Lenalee wears tha skirt, but I'm just pointing out the main ones.
3. Shrunken boobs? 
4. Please don't make me read such a pathetic excuse of a humorious piece again. It's completely OOC, badly drawn and written as if the author had nothing else to do with his/her life.

I don't get why people hate Lenalee D: She's so strong, she cares for her friends, and when she cries her reasons actually make sense, it's not like she cries over stupid things ;A; She's my favorite girl character... ;-;
And as for yaoi/yuri/pairings and the sort, I don't (or more like can't) ship anything in D Gray Man because it gets in the way of the story Dx (But I do think all of the pairings are cute in their own way~ The only one I could say I slightly 'dislike' is Allen/Road because... Road tried to kill Allen at one point, right? So, er... unless it's some kind of yandere thing, I can't really like that pairing

I loved this, because it summarized many of my own feelings on the subject. I totally agree with Exile Wrath- she's not some weakling Mary-Sue, she's very much a big-sister and friend to her comrades, doing her best to protect her family and prove that she can fight as well, even if she isn't the absolute strongest character in terms of power.
Lena is actually quite a strong character...really, the things she went through as a child have the potential to drive people insane, especially with how young she was, but she bounced back and became stronger as a way of coping. Most people forced into that sort situation would have just given up and died, but after a period of depression, she does her best to keep going, which is more than many can say. She's kind-hearted, determined, and smart...what's not to like about her? Let's see...jealousy, perhaps?
Her crying...Miranda cries more, and Johnny too, and as stated, Allen, Lavi, and even Kanda, the human ice-block, get driven to tears in particular situations. Their tears are for perfectly valid reasons- the death of a friendor loved one they failed to save, being emotionally and/or physically tortured, etc. DGM isn't some happy-go-lucky series, just about every character has cried for various reasons, mostly pertaining to the harsh reality of war and death.
It just proves that they are still human, because humans are flawed, and thus capable of fault and mistakes, and moments of "weakness " where they show their sorrow just makes us empathize with their emotions, or at least they should. Lena in particular becomes upset due to her perception of the world- to her, her friends, family, and comrades make up the puzzle pieces of her world, because without them, her existence is seemingly meaningless, with nothing to strive for and no one to help or be helped.

It's hardly unrealistic-it's human nature to look at the ones around them rather than the big picture, because they're familiar and they are the ones we have experience with.
I laugh at humanity too when they say stupid things like "that's unrealistic", because they're just being hypocritical and provincial in outlook. *rolls eyes* Most of our species are admittedly moronic. I',m just glad to find someone else who agrees with my opinion on the matter besides a few of my friends...

Lenalee haters get on my nerves a lot. As a fanfic writer, I actually find her a fun character to write. Also, I have experience with Sues. I don't really see how Lenalee is a Mary-Sue, if just barely. Her actions make sense, she isn't exactly brilliant, she's not all over everyone, just trying to be an old-sister or family figure, because she has been in the Order long enough to know that connections count and Exorcists aren't completely heartless and they all need some sort of humanizing figure in their life. She also is trying her hardest to be a good friend because Exorcists can't really trust someone that isn't an Exorcist. Anyone can be an Akuma or Noah. Furthermore, she cries for reasons. Not just angsting for no reason, but because someone is in danger and she can't do anything or someone has died.
That's not Mary-Sue. That's Hoshino-status OC.

I recently saw a hater complain about her being a disapointment after the hair-loss, still can't get what's so wrong with 'the new Lenalee' when I've always found the old one rather boring :/

THANK YOU SO FUCKING MUCH, I've had enough of all that MS nonsense, just because a female has a lot of positive traits doesn't mean she's a Sue. I also hate it when they point out that everyone loves her. UH THE NOAH, duh, JUST CAUSE TYKI GRABBED HER FOR A MOMENT DOESN'T MEAN HE'S HEAD-OVER-HEELS FOR HER. And besides, most of the BO crue are males, having experience with irritating men(lol), I know for a fact that men get angry with a female when she's either clumsy, a waste of time, doesn't do her job correstly or so. Lenalee doesn't do any of that, so there isn't a reason for her to be hated among the protagonists.
Some actually state that she cries for the simplest of reasons....dunno, they didn't seem like they hated Allen, Kanda or Lavi(emphasis on Lavi)....so I doubt even they knew what they were saying by that.
This comment reminded me of when I saw people discussing their hate towards Lenalee:
"I actually read somewhere that when Hoshino told her editor about Komui and Lenalee being based on actual people in her life her editor couldn't stop laughing....I totally don't blame that editor for laughing"

hmmm you did bring light to my eyes writing about this.
I, myself, isnt a lenalee hater, though i have said a few times that i didnt like lenalee, which was only cuz of the noahs ark thingy. but whenever i look back at that thought, i feel like i shouldn't have ever said that. lenalees awesome, even if she wasnt really useful at noah's ark but she wasnt to blame there. she got it back and has formed a new weapon for her now (though sadly i think her life shortened 
if i was to hate lenalee, i should hate johnny and lavi too >.> they sorta kinda have the same role as lenalee. i dislike choji though xD
and yes if people hate lenalee cuz she crys so much, i think they should hate miranda more. shes always crying.why do people hate the people who cry alot? lol almost everyone cried, even kanda too...

I didn't mind her during the Ark, mostly because I tend to never notice about those type o' details. Glad you're one of those who realise how stupid that reason is.
Life shortened? Hmm...it would make sense...but Hoshino has said anything about that.
Me too, I love those three(as characters) but Lenalee is the only main character who Hoshino hasn't worked on a lot, I'm real curious about her entire past and emotions, not to mention that she's always given the most badass fight scenes....

true that, but since the innocence is inside her, in the form of her blood (i think) they sorta discussed it when komui took lenalee to hebra.

Huh, how weird, Ive never got into one of these discussions, I dont know how people can get so uptight about a character really... to go to the length of arguing why they hate a character? And for such poor reasons..lol
Sure she cries, Allen cries, Krory cries, Miranda cries, johnny cries (tonnes) and im pretty sure Lavi cried that one time...lol? So how can you hate her for that and not the others? Atleast Kanda is sensible and 'dislikes' everyone equally for for crying or being an idiot in general and doesnt discriminate anyone in particular, everyone should be like that 
But I pretty much like all the characters in DGM, even the Earl, they all have something interesting and quirky about them. I agree you can dislike a character but arguing and hating is a bit overboard. Haters will remain ignored...

i personally like lenalee. She's strong and cares about others.
She may have lost her innocence but so did allen and no one hates him
Then she gets crystal innocence first and owns a level 4 that beat up everyone else.
Yes she cries; she was basically kidnapped and tortured to become an accommodator. She has been at the order for a long time and many of her friends have since died (remember how Tyki killed a bunch of exorcists? lenalee knew them, they were her friends) She wants to help allen beat the noah inside himself but can't,what can she do? Then after the fight with Alma she's told that Kanda is gone, Kanda is her oldest friend so forgive her for crying i'm sure you would too.
She's not my favourite character but thats personal preference. But she's not weak and defiantly doesn't deserve all the hate directed towards her

All that hatred gets on my nerves, A LOT.
Sometimes I feel like LHs just take her too seriously, she's one of those characters that you just, see her, like her/dislike her if she ain't your type/, and move on, and if you find her interesting because of some personality details, then you like the story enough to go a bit deep into it, like the AllenXLena(which haters also take too seriously) pairing.
No one has to go so deep into her, find something they dislike in her, exaggurate their hatred, and then give shitty reasons as to why they hate her.

I personly donΒ΄t think lenalee is bland, i think she is one of the most uhm interesting characters in d gray man. I don't really think she is either, I mean, she's a very romantic/poetic person for her have such visions of the world, which is quite rare to see in shounen OR any other manga. I understand if it was the oneshot zone Lenalee(Rinali), but, I feel like this Lenalee is looked at WITHOUT noticing the details in her personality(cute, sweet, stereotypical 'angel').

Hahhaha! I found it funny how people judge Lenalee because she cries. I'm not a huge fan of her, but I find that reason ridiculous. I think she's a strong character, and I like her most of the time, specially in the begging. It kinda got different at the Ark Ark, because she "lost" her innocence and had to be saved, but hey! That wasn't her fault -at least not completely- so there's no point whining about that. The only moments I find her, really irritating is when she hurries from Allen to Lavi, then to Kanda, and back to Allen, it gets on my nerves. But that doesn't make her a hate-able character, just a good friend, I suppose. Lenalee is actually one of the few female characters I like (not only from DGM, of course), and it's kinda annoying to hear things like "she's a crybaby and a whore" all the time.

And there's the point. People use to hate on characters who "messes" with their bias. That was more or less what I thought about Lenalee when she was "too much" with Lavi XD But I got over it fast enough (I hope...) Anyway, the other point is that people should really consider Lenalee was one of the original characters Hoshino-sensei created, she really has a reason to exist in the stories. If people dislike her, well, their problem, she's already an important part of D.Gray-Man and I doubt stupid remarks as those will change that.
