Description
This is the first part of a series I have been working on, depicting the seduction and consumption of a soul by a demon. The progress is shown in five steps, where the victim is at first lured by the demon gaining new and unknown powers in the process. She progressively loses hold over her own entity to become merely a vessel of her occupier, and when the soul is finally consumed the demon leaves only an empty void behind.Being covered in countless of novels and movies, the idea of possession is a classic one. What inspired me to do my own take on the subject was reading the book "Children of Dune" and partly also playing the latest Dragon Age game. The images are all finished and I will upload them here one by one within the next month. They will be named in order 'Entangled - Gaia - Abomination - Vessel - The Void' and will present different stations of the hostile takeover as described above. If you want to get a full preview, they are all included in the latest Slashthree exhibition "Discovery" .
My main motivation to create these images was not the concept, though, but to explore a different style for me and employ new techniques. All images are very heavy on texture usage and I intentionally tried to break a rule every now and then to step out of my comfort zone. You will also find a lot of recurring elements in every image, e.g., the demonic features are usually presented by roots, stones and ivy, whereas for the postwork I limited myself to a closed set of textures that you will recognize.
Kudos if you are still reading at this point. ;-D

Great transformation Erik, I'm all for controlled rule breaking in art and I love the cool to warm colour transition across the finished image.

Thank you, glad you like the colors! Following rules all the time indeed gets boring after a while.

First rule of entering competitions - read the rules, and then break them!

I think you handled these contrasting colours pretty well. It can be hard to get red, blue and green (the three primary colours of light) to look any good together in the same piece. Maybe you just found a good balance

I usually add countless of color balance layers and move the bars around until I'm happy. Can get almost everything to work that way, at least for my taste.

Now that's a color combination I don't see a lot of! The green really works well with the red though. Great work!

Glad you like the colors! I really like this combination of red and green actually and I've used it a couple of times before already. Indeed now that I think about it, I don't see it that much either...

yes this is probably the most crowded of them, the others will be a little more organized.. Glad you like the details, though! Thanks!

But I like this crowding, it gives the sensation for me that something big is happening.

"wollll" is a funny expression. Is that a portuguese/brasilian thing? I just googled it to find out what it means and found this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XNOf5…
Anyways, thanks a lot for your comment man! Glad you like it!

klingt witzig, wenn ich das so lese. Der Schädel ist der letzte Teil, da wirst du dann wohl so bis Mitte Mai warten müssen. Freut mich, dass es gefällt!
