Description
I feel a bit crazy going from fractals toconceptual photography to traditional painting
to... whatever.
But then dA is a good place to do crazy things.
Last December a French friend who lives in
Barcelona asked me if I would make a small
painting for one of his nieces, a young teenager
who was coming to visit him from Paris.
I said no.
I'd never made anything for children or very
young people and I had no idea how to
go about it. He said the girl likes colourful
pictures of just about anything and would I please
give it a try?
I finally gave in and had such fun that I ended up
making a whole series of watercolours and collage
on hand-made paper. I had to mail the commissioned
work to my friend in such a hurry that I didn't even
scan it before parting from it. The girl promised she
would send me a photograph. Sometime...
Now I am posting some of the works I made after
delivering the commission. Don't be hard judging them,
I still don't know anything about art for the young.
In spite of that, I hope you'll like them

The signature thing is funny. I've changed it lots of times in the past and was never happy with it. I don't like signing my art the way I sign documents and somehow I couldn't fin my artistic "identity". Now I'm happy with this one and I've noticed many people like it. My split personality blended into one finally?

(big smile)... I guess that's it
I have a friend here, who wrote at the end of her comments (as a signature, at the bottom line) - "a signature? me? never!"... and since I saw it - I stopped signing my works.... I don't know for sure, but somehow it felt "not in its place" suddenly... what do you think?

I understand the conflict signing or not may suppose, believe me! But it's so very personal. If you feel it's "out of place", then it is, no matter what others may think.

(smile) "out of place" means for me - I'm not "there" yet to sign my works... it has no connection to others, but to the measure I appreciate my artistic work

Another delightfully whimsical piece... I certainly hope you're putting these on display at a local gallery or shoppe...

I don't even have enough money to frame them!
It's great to know you like it

They wouldn't have to be framed... I see many similar works at our local shoppes and small galleries that aren't framed... Once people buy them they frame them as they like or not... I think they're marvelous... Perfect for a child or little girl's room... Heck, for that matter most any room...

It's a tempting idea! I'll have to give it some serious consideration

I hope you do... I think you might be surprised at the reception your artworks get if they're displayed in the proper setting...
