Description
This was a 196-hour render with 800*800 dimensions and 16000 quality which still couldn't remove the grains.. so I decided to name it limestone, the material used to build the Giza pyramids, which would somehow fit the grainy texture of the fractal.. I'm quite happy with the design itself, so I couldn't throw it away because of the grainsmade in Apophysis 2.05 beta2 Z+
enjoy!

The grain actually enhances the piece for me - subtle, moody. Love it.

Grain or no, this is excellent. In fact, I like the subtle texture and character the grain adds.

It reminds me of a whole bunch of stamped and addressed letters. Lovely!

Beautiful fractal!!!! The grain doesn't bother me at all. Valiant attempt to get rid of though!

196 hours tops the cake for render time. It's a gorgeous image, and the grain isn't too noticeable.
Grain and noise are one of the main drawbacks of Apophysis for me (compared to Ultra Fractal). Often I spend hours rendering a fractal, only to be bitterly disappointed.

I don't like the grainy output of Apo too, but they kinda fit into this I guess..
thanks for the comment

I like it grainy, anyway. Cool colors, too!
It really is a great design.

Wonderful sense of depth/height in this! I like the way all those great little limestone blocks seem to flying around. I really thought this was a UF image when I first saw it, because of the depth and realism.
196 hours is a looooong time.

heheh I had my finals that week, so the render kept me away from apophysis and did a good job to help me study glad you like it.. the new variations of Apo amaze me.. the flames turn out so solid and easily mistakable for UFs..

That's a long time. Seems too long actually. Did you use zoom or memory limiting?
You should try reducing the gamma to get rid of the grain, or find out what is causing it in the first place.

it was the zoom that caused it.. I think it was above 3
well my memory is already limited by nature anyway, it's 512 MB
I'll try to play with gamma and the variations the next time I find in myself the patience to wait for another week for a render
thanks for the comment and advice

all that the zoom does is change the master scale and increase the quality. The amount it increases the quality isn't right though

The grain is an asset here and makes for a wonderful texture. The depth is this is just dizzying! You can feel yourself standing on the edge and looking down a great shaft. Very well done!!

They say patience is a virtue - so, you must be a Saint by now? Any way, great composition on this. Great pattern. Very enduring image. Well done!

wow that is a long render...
did you try moving the triangles in like really small amounts say .005 or lower??
that could help with the grainyness...

I'll try that, thanks for the advice

*uses Calculator to convert it into days*
Anyways, sometimes, the grain can enhance the image, instead of degrading it. And this is one good example.
