Okay, so when I read Neil Gaiman's masterpiece, American Gods, I loved his characterization of the Goddess Easter. I was convinced that I had to do my take on his Easter. And then I met Miss Shyly when she was here in NYC doing some shoots and the wheels started turning. And they kept turning until about twenty minutes ago.Here she is, Easter Shyly.

Yes,it was an incredible story and Neil Gaiman is an incredible author. It blew me away and obviously affected me so much that I had to draw one of the characters and Easter just stood out, she was super visual to me... And then I met MissShyly and... TaDaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Thanks for the great comment! I love when people know where the idea for the drawing came from!

Outside of American Gods and some of his comic book works I have not read much Gaiman, but I know from what I have read that he is brilliant. I DO want to read Anansi Boys, tho. Maybe I'll pick up a copy one afternoon and add it to my reading queue.

I did a search for 'American Gods' art as I'm currently reading the book.
(Well to be fair, it's a 'book on tape' as I've been listening to it while drawing. 'Killing two birds with one stone' as it were.)
I love your version of Easter. She looks so curvacious and buxum. ^^
I am so thrilled with that book though, as so far I've been able to pick out who nearly all of the Gods are. Even when Wednesday asks the waitress (who says she is pagan) what easter is, I shook my head and replied to my husband 'That's not it. It's 'Ostra', and old celtic spring celebration.'. Then I kept wishing that I had been there to reply instead.

Thanks for the compliments forst of all. Secondly, GOOD ON YOU for finding that book because it's EXCELLENT! I recommend it to EVERYone who will listen! And yes,he did such a great job delvering Easter that she stuck in my brain... And then I found lil Miss Shyly and that was it!

I've wanted to read it since I read some pre-release teasers about the book. I just never seemed to get a copy until now.
If you like that book, you'd also really like 'Good Omens' by Neil Gaimen and Terry Pratchet. It's amazing! The book has a huge fan following. (Read that one ages ago while it was still in it's first hard cover print. 
Gaimen is my favourite author. He did such an amazing job with the Sandman series. In my teen years I apparently was identical to Death. People used to actually stop me in comic stores just to tell me that. Now I look like Death with 50+ extra lbs. :-/

ThankYEW Star! U know likenesses are always a lil tough for me. I have trouble sometimes drawing what I see because I'm SO inclined to draw from my imagination. I can see what I SHOULD be drawing, but somewhere between my eyes and my hand, I get goofy. I'm glad she came out so well. It was fun!
