Description So I said I was going to try and make one and I did. Here is my lighting tutorial--part one at least...I have several more pictures I have to resize...crop...match up and blah blah blah..

This was done in black and white as well as in color.
However when I color I start it off in grayscale and apply a soft or hard light layer of color...thats in photoshop by the way.

Let me know if this is helpful to you and pass it along to others he may find it helpful!
Okay so this is how I help myself with lighting. Since I'm still trying to figure out myself and rather---perfect my knowledge of proper lighting...its what you do when you've yet to go to art school---study and research and trial and error!

I was really short on alot of what I said....kinda lazy....but I think I was clear enough on what each shot was.

There was one thing that confused me a bit - you started with explaining we'd need different penciles you later grouped together. Which pencils go in which group? I've been drawing quite some time, but I've never even thought of grouping them any ways in the process.

Maybe you mean something else when you say pencils....so sorry I'm confused by what you're saying I tried to make sense of it.

Me too. My sister asked me to say thanks - she put it on her wall to remind her the correct shading .

Actually, there would be one thing I have been thinking of and what in my part has brought with it a huge collection of many pictures - the way the shadows look on face. I remember a teaching in some Manga resourse, where the face was split in sections to show how shadows fall on the face, but I haven't seen it anywhere anymore. As face being one of the hardest to draw, I think it would be very appriciated.

No problem! I'm working on getting a model head *you know the ones the salon schools use*
As soon as I get it I will do a lighting resource of that...I also think I will do a series of simplified shadowing/shading as well.
Me personally....I like to see all the shadows because there's a look I'm tryign to achieve in my art.

Me too, though I'm still very eclectic and end up copeying different styles all the time, which usually comes out later, when I have already finished the work. In a way it should be good, but I don't think the artists would like to find a copy machine on human form .
