Description
Nothing fancy, but it could help someone, somewhere, somehow. This tutorial is written for Cinema 4D, but could easily be adapted for any other 3D app out there.

I LOVE THIS. I AM NEW TO C4D AND I THINK I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO THIS WITH EASE. AND THIS IS REALLY NOT FOR AMATEUR COS OF LOCATING TOOLS. THAT'S NOT AN ISSUES FOR ME THOUGH

Yeah, you say this is a tutorial that new people to modelling to follow, yet you neglect to explain the basic stuff. I mean, I've used C4D before so I know where the spline tool is, but others might not... since C4D is nicely icon-based a little pic of that would help. The model might be basic but you assume folks know where everything is.

The Spline tool is fairly simple to find - there is obviously some assumed knowledge, including how to start the program, how to place a light, how to use object handles, etc.
While I see what you're saying, if they can't work out which is the spline button, they're going to have more problems than following this tutorial!
Cheers for the comment though

"Right". But if you've created it in another, no worries, just use the Object Axis tool on the spline while it's inside the lathe object and rotate it round until it's correct

(Ow, I can't edit my message...)
Well, something happens, but like you see at the screenshot, all copies appear at one point... Instead of in a circle.

try it on Linear with the per-step rotations, see if that does it.

Just select the light, hit "Functions" and pick "Duplicate". Adjust as desired

But if I fill in the right settings, and click Apply, nothing happens...

Look at the object pane, you'll find a null named after your object, containing loads of duplicates.
Eg, try "linear" mode, 20 duplicates, duplicate Instances, turn off "per step" and put "360" in the rotation field. That should do it.

Once you've set the selection, it'll place a little red/orange triangle next to the object's name in the object manager. Click it and it'll open it in the properties pane. You'll find the name there, most likely named "Polygon Selection". Just change it there.

By the way nice tut ...and an additional question how do you texture a selection seperately if not using split?

See over here: [link]
You'll find the lathe-object creator where the red arrow is. Place the spline inside it, as I've circled, and there ya go.
Thanks for the too!

Nice. except you should probably either do a clay render as the final image, or explain how you got what you got.
