Description Nightwind was the loyal and steadfast deputy of Amberstar. He served for many years, his quiet wit tempering his leader’s impulse, and all of StormClan was convinced that leadership was in his grasp. When Amberstar publicly demoted Nightwind in favour of taking on his young, unproven son as deputy, all were left in shock. The old tom stewed in his resentment, but bit his tongue until Seastar ascended the throne. When his new leader began sending his warriors to die in an ultimately pointless war, Nightwind refused to sit idle. He was the first to speak out against the Conqueror, and was punished for his defiance with exile. Some say he was lucky, for Seastar’s punishments grew more brutal as his time as a Star went on. He sought out the Sunlanders and the Kingdom cats, offering them vital intel on Seastar’s plans and promising to help them end this reign of tyranny. Many Stormclanners who were initially hesitant to side with cats of outsider blood ended up following Nightwind, believing him to be StormClan’s rightful leader.

He played a pivotal role in the Stormfall War, and was one of the few cats to land a strike on Seastar in the final battle. Throughout the war, however, he came to see the warrior code as too flawed to salvage, a system so inherently violent that it was better off gone. With Seastar’s defeat, he renounced any ties he had to the now defunct StormClan, and lived out his days with the Sunlanders. Some former StormClan warriors who had followed him into exile were upset by this, believing that the code itself was not the issue, but the tyrannical leader who took it too far. These cries fell on deaf ears, however, and Nightwind wishes for nothing more than to leave his past behind. Though he’s a Sunlander in name, he spends most of his time on the outskirts of their territory, under an apartment block where he’s regularly fed by the residents. He does visit to see his granddaughter and her family, but is otherwise elusive.
