This is very useful. I've always relied too much on realism so it never even occurred to me to think about why game graphics have a tendency to be stylized. This makes so much sense.

Very helpful, Thank you! I'm trying to improve on my backgrounds (exterior/interior) and I think instilling more personality into it does help with the processΒ as well as the outcome.Β It would totally inspire more story and development out of whoever is writing or designing the other parts of the game.Β Β
And very excited for the book! Looking forward to that!Β

Awesome! So glad it's all helping - yes, personality of the place comes first, get it in mind, and draw with that in your head - let it influence all your style and design choices, you'll see the character in the final work come through!
Glad you're looking forward to the book

This really throws me back to the world icons I watched on Legend of Mana. Placing the Artifacts on the world map and seeing their animations when they open was a delight.

These are amazing... Do you happen to have any on drawing a map? I'd like to plot out the map of my fictional city, but every time I try it looks like a four year old's attempt at a pirates map D:Β
I have no concept of space and distance between buildings and roads and treees and .. yeah, I need some help xD

I love this! This would be amazing for any indie dev who wants to make a game with a map screen.
(Or anyone who wants to draw one of your adventure mazes themselves )
