Interesting stuff you made here
I love the looks of those paper stack, i must try to draw them
Im a bit confused about the folds tho
Maybe it seems like cloth folds but much more stiff?

This made me realize that if i wanted to make so that all throu a story the reader will feel uneasy and with the sensation that something ominous and terrifying happened without drawing it directly, id just put used newspaper in subtle but unnatural amounts all throughout the city, on street corners, bunched up against buildings, in drains.
To that add a city less brimming with people than usual, empty streets and all. This suggests that something made people buy newspapers in big numbers, in a very short amount of time, even people who wouldnt buy them.
The enemy breaching the not too far front line? Bomb sightings? The spread of a violent disease? It would be subtle enough not to catch the readers' eye, but enough to suggest something isnt right.
Leave them with that feeling that you get for a couple of minutes when you are the only one that doesnt know about the tragedy yet, but you can feel it in the air.

"This just in, Newspapers are actually aliens taking over people!"
"Ooh, I'll take one."

Yes, that's a GREAT idea, I love that, using an environmental element to tell the story, and build tension/dread! A great idea, really glad this tute sparked that thought!
Cheers for sharing!
