The people called Romans, they go in the house!

Those who don't get Python are doomed not to be humerous. But the funnier scene is Pilate berating his guards about his friend in Rome...

"Domus? That's motioned towards, isn't it? What case would that take?"
"...Dative?"
*Draws sword*
"No, not dative! Uh.. uh accusative! Accusative!"

Love this film! Monty Python were geneuses (if that is how it is spelled) I went to see Spamalot recently and it was the best musical I have ever seen and not to mention the funniest! Well done on a great piece of art that perfectly compliments the movie

I must ask, what is he writing? "Tou"? or "Toy" Is it Greek or Latin? I'm curious because I was trying to wrack my brain to translate it.

"Toy". The word is used by graffitti writers to disrespect someone by writing it on top of someone else's piece. Nothing ancient about it

I noticed that, amazed as you were, you forgot to add me to you watchlist. That's probably a mistake, (think of all the future laughs you'd be missing out on!) although fortunately easily rectified (*thanks for the kind words though*)

That's typical of you. Build me up just to knock me down. You weren't THAT funny to begin with, I was being kind.

Centurion: What's this then? "Romanes eunt domus"? "People called Romanes, they go the 'ouse"?
Brian: [terrified] It--it says "Romans go home".
Centurion: No it doesn't. What's Latin for "Roman"? Come on, come on.
Brian: "Romanus"?
Centurion: Goes like...?
Brian: "Anus"?
Centurion: Vocative plural of "anus" is...?
Brian: "Ani."
Centurion: [writing] "Romani". "Eunt"? What is "eunt"?
Brian: "Go".
Centurion: Conjugate the verb "to go".
Brian: Ire, eo, is, it, imus, itis, eunt.
Centurion: So "eunt" is...?
Brian: Third person plural, present indicative. "They go".
Centurion: But "Romans go home" is an order, so you must use the...?
Brian: [getting his earlock pulled, increasingly panicked] Eee, imperative!
Centurion: Which is…?
Brian: Uh, uhm, "i"! "I"!
Centurion: How many Romans?
Brian: Aah! Plural, plural! "Ite"! "Ite"!
Centurion: [writing] "Ite". "Domus"? Nominative? "Go home", this is motion towards, isn't it, boy?”
Brian: Dative! [centurion draws his sword and holds it to Brian's throat] Ah! Not dative! Not the dative! Aah! Accusative, accusative! "Domum", sir, "ad domum".
Centurion: Except that "domus" takes the...?
Brian: The locative, sir!
Centurion: Which is...?
Brian: "Domum"!
Centurion: "Domum". [writing] Understand?
Brian: Yes, sir.
Centurion: Now write it out a 'undred times.
Brian: Yes, thank you Sir, Hail Caesar. [calming down]
Centurion: Hail Caesar. If it's not done by sunrise, I'll cut your balls off.
