Description
In my last Size Comparisons i show the size of the ships in the Mass Effect Universe. Compared to giant ships like the Dreadnoughts, the Crucible or the Quarian Live Ships, the Reapers dont seemed that large as the games gave us.So i tried to make a comparison with some thing we have right here around us. Skyscrapers. And so... the Reapers show their size.

Man, look at how small the Destroyer is compared to the Normandy... I don't understand why it takes so many ships or a giant thresher maw to kill one of those things. You think that if the Normandy's Thanix cannon can destroy a Collector ship (which probably uses Reaper technology), it can take down a Reaper Destroyer with no problem.
I guess I'm just upset I can destroy Reapers with the Thanix in the galaxy map when I'm scanning planets.

Harbinger IS larger. You see, he is a bit fatter and have this front dome. Gives him around 1.5 times the mass of a basic Sovereign class Reaper.
There is not a single clue that he is taller.

great idea, lets make a race of powerful sentient, megalomaniac, killing machines bigger than an entire city block. AND while were at it lets make thousands of them.....
Yep this just goes to prove Shepherd is a bad bad man/woman....
Great work by the way, having a pictorial scale really drives home how utterly futile resisting the reapers SHOULD have been.

Yes, the Sovereign Reapers are very terrifying when you see them walking trough the cities. But im more amazed about the comparison to the Alliance ship to the buildings. I mean every cruiser or Dreadnought, even the older ones are bigger than every building we have today. Must be a hell of a work to create all these ships we see in the endbattle of Mass Effect 3.

I definitely agree with you on those points.
Maybe your next size comparison uploads could be viewing all the different Mass Effect race ships vertically next to buildings on Earth arranged according to their length in meters.

trolltrollingtroll In reply to Euderion [2015-04-13 09:30:15 +0000 UTC]
200 000? I dont think they would come here in such numbers, just to take ONE world, maybe just a few hunderd. Lure as many as you can to one place and blow 'em up. I really don't understand why no one in ME uses nukes or stuff like that, you'd think in the future they would have bombs that would make our nukes look like firecrackers, but apparently they think using conventional weapons would be the best way to defeat a race of ancient death machines, they might as well just be throwing rocks.Β

Codex says, that the mass accelerators of cruisers and dreadnoughts have two or three times the firepower and energy released by the fission weapon that destroyed Hiroshima. And we see, that the reapers where multiple hit by these weapons without a scratch. So you need half a dozen nukes (or more) for only one Reaper.
There are nukes in ME. Shepard kills the unarmored Hades Reaper with a Cain/Mini-Nuke. But the problem is mostly, is it ok to use weapons who made bigger destruction than the reaper we want to destroy? The radiation kills everthing in miles, and that for a long time.Β We would do the Reapers a favor.
But ok, let us assume we destroy some hundreds of Reapers with giant uber mega weapons without killing ourself. Codex and events from earlier cycles show us, if a species resist they simply kill the entire planet with orbital bombardment or throwing a asteroid to us.

When the Reapers shields are up they take multiple hits but in planetary atmospheres the need to lower them to weaker levels so they can move about without falling over in a worlds gravity so a nuke could kill one depending on the yield, the Krogan do kill a lot of them with nukes during the Miracle of Palaven.
.
Doesn't the codex mention that the Reapers hit orbital defenses and nuclear sites before they start harvesting, they definitely did on Earth

Yeah that kinda sucks, no matter what what you do, in the end you still lose. I know using nukes would create a lot of radiation and fallout and stuff, but would that still be the case if you used fusion weapons instead of the fission weapons we have? I know the few hydrogen bombs that were tested during the cold war still required a smaller fission bomb inside to trigger the fusion reaction, but since most ships in ME seem to be powered by a fusion reactor, I guess they'd be able to make a 'pure' fusion based nuke as well. And what about antimatter? The Codex says most larger ships use antiprotons as fuel, so you'd think it would be easy to produce it in large quantities, enough to make quite a bomb, but I don't know if an antimatter explosion would leave a lot of radiation behind or not, all I once saw in a documentary on national geographic is that a few grams of antimatter, when exposed to normal matter, creates an explosion equal to the explosion that destroyed Hiroshima, just imagine what a few hunderd grams could do. I agree with you that using nukes on the ground would be a bad idea, but what if you used them in space? Even if a nuclear explosion would be less powerfull in space (or something like that, I'm not an expert on that) it would still create enormous amounts of thermal radiation and an emp, The codex says shields in ME only block solid objects, but offer no protection against heat, radiation and such. The bomb in the video had a yield of 50 megaton by the way, several hunderds of times stronger than the mass accelerators ME's ships use, so technically you would only need one, only problem is getting it to the target would having it being destroyed. All in all, I'm just glad the reapers aren't real, cause that would mean we'd all be doomed.
