Description
Next ship is ready for the Quarians. This time the Science ship, or exploration vessel, a more civilian ship in the Migrant fleet. As my other quarian ships, the Explorer based on the Concepts Bioware show us in the "Art of Mass Effect" Book. There they showed us different concepts of quarian ships to give the migrant fleet a wilder look with lots of different vessels. This is my try to realize all of these concepts in 3d. I orientated on the overall form of the concept, but I have me allowed some liberties to make the shape a bit more streamlined and add more details like weapons, engines, sensors and in this case, two rotating rings with solar panels. The concept in the book showing only two very thin domes on top and bottom and the panels are my interpretation from it.
The Quarian Explorer is a science ship which can be found in the Civilian fleet under Admiral Zaal'Koris but also in the Special Projects arm of the Migrant Fleet, a collection of research vessels responsible for many technical breakthroughs used by the rest of the Fleet. Typically the around 300 meter long ship is not armed, but some of them were refited with a couple of point defense guns and a light version of the G.A.R.D.I.A.N. Defense Lasers to intercept enemy fighters or missiles. But without military style armor or bigger Mass Accelerator canons the Explorer is no match for any ship bigger than a corvette.
It has Mass Effect Barrier shields and is capable of FTL flight, so its not that unusual to see the Quarian Explorer outside the Flotilla to do its job like scanning planets for new resources or identify possible stellar threaths in the trajectory of the Migrant Fleet.

This is awesome. I know the Quarian ship came off of the "Art of Mass Effect" book, but did you design the ship yourself from all the concepts they gave smashed together or is this like the first in many versions to come?

In the "Art of Mass Effect" Book is a compilation of eight different concept sketches for Quarian ships. I use these sketches as inspiration and build them one by one in 3d with my own modifications, to give them more details.

Nice. Unlike Turian or Earth Alliance vessels, Quarian and Asari vessels have these smooth curved lines which make ship lovely and unique.

Love this one!
Several years ago, I ran a tabletop RPG where the PCs were members of an expedition to find and reactivate a Mass Relay in one of the Magellanic clouds. I was going to have them run into a Quarian explorer fleet at some point during the campaign.Β

Thank you very much! I wish we had seen more from the Quarians in the Trilogy or in Andromeda.

Hmm, this gives me an idea to build on Space Engineers.
