Description
This is a 1:1 sized Prop of the Tosk Hunter Rifle we can see in the Star Trek DS9 Episode "Captive Pursuit" from the first Season. The weapon is also called the Energy Crossbow or the Drai Rifle. Onscreen the species name "Drai" is not mentioned, but a pre-production sketch of an original design for the Hunters in the book "The Making of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" indicated that the species was called the Drai.

The original Energy Crossbow Prop was the base model for many later Alien Rifles such as the Jem'Hadar Rifle, The Ennis and Nol-Ennis Weapons and the Kellerun Assault Rifle. They even use it in "Enterprise" as the Rifle version of the Plasma based Starfleet EM-33 Pistol.

This Prop is not a 100 percent duplicate, because it is build only from junk and leftovers earlier projects. So it cost me besides of glue and paint not a single cent.
Full prop is 72 cm in length and made out of three layers of wood. I use simply pressboard from a old cabinet door. Sawn with a jigsaw and adjusted with a rasp and sandpaper.
For the barrel i use a empty hair spray can, and a bottlecap for the front emitter. The tech things and structures are mostly old computer platines and plugs.
For the coloring i work with silver and black spray paints to give it a metalic surface.
