I think it speaks volumes that Lina was in the very same position that the girl from's Zel's flashbacks was in. Maybe I'm just reading into it too much, but I'll bet that seeing Lina like that and knowing what Rezo might do to her brought back those horrible memories and made Zel act, and that turned out to be one of the best decisions of his life.

The last frame is really symbolic... Releasing Lina was way to his own freedome... I love it

And then he happened to meet Lina and she changed his life forever!

This scene is, I think, the most powerful to focus on for Zel Lina. I think you brought up this scene in one of your other fan comics, where he frees lina and it's still one of my favorites. It took so much for Zel to free her, to free himself all in that one moment.

Oh you remember One of his days....the first fancomic of mine XD Thank you. It had been published (Jan 2000) before QP sama wrote this LIS (May 2000-Mar 2003).
This is kinda essential material when ZL lovers check the two's relationship, I think

Yeah, until he met Lina Zel's future was looking pretty grim and dark, she helped free him from this hell when she defeated the Dark Lord inside Rezo

Yeah...The first impression of reading the earlier volumes of novel confirmed my coupling preference in Slayers =w=;; The 1st season, at least novel part, is definitely the story of Zel's written in Lina's view, I think.
Sorry for Zel for that he was degraded as sidekick weakling in the subsequent series TwT One of many reasons I don't like Rev/Evo-R. The weak Rev Zel was beaten severely by the mid-class mazoku whom he defeated cool in the novel =_=;;;

Zel in Next and Try were okay for me, since those two are high quality (Just appearance in those great series was appreciable...and his motions there were absolutely fascinating). I loved Zel very much in the prev 3 anime....But Rev & Evo-R.....made me just sob....TwT;;

I always love that scene because It was like the now or never surely Zell was waiting *u* I like to think that Zell was starting to planning his betrayal time ago but He wasn´t sure how or when until Lina´s appeared...

Yes, and this assassination offer was given to Zel due to the expectation toward 'Rezo's berserker' Zel's darkside name. Zakkary's army was in the middle of hopeless situation so he drew Zel into this. Zel's dark past is still hounting him as painful memory...but Zakkary reveals Rezo's legacy to Zel later, so this past recollection was needed here...X)
