Description
So, it has been about three years since I drew my giant Aperture Science transmutation circle . And now that I've joined the Risembool Rangers and even met Vic Mignogna, I'm feeling inspired to take up the habit again.

Anyways, my lilbro has been bitten by the "brony" bug BAD, and just to see him squee, I've decided to design a transmutation circle that could theoretically open a transdimensional passage to the land of Equestria. (The "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" universe; a "brony" is a teenage boy who has become a fan of the 2010 reincarnation of MLP.) If I draw this on the ground irl, my bro has agreed to cosplay Alphonse Elric with ponies hidden inside his armor instead of kittens!!

It was said in MLP:FiM Season 1 Episode 1 that the villainous Nightmare Moon (a winged unicorn) would escape from her 1000-year exile on the moon somehow 'aided by the stars'. The show gives no more explanation into how that is supposed to work. So, I came up with this theory-----on the day she was prophesied to return, the planets in the sky would align such that this circle, transposed against the sky, would draw their power in place of the "Elements of Harmony", the six magical gemstones that were used to imprison her on the moon in the first place.

Since I'm friends with a guy who happens to love astrology, I've picked up some basic knowledge.... If you imagine that each planet in our solar system had a human personality, then for this circle I likened six planets with the "mane six" characters of MLP:FiM who came to embody the powers of the Elements after they shattered. (Seriously, if none of this makes any sense to you, just spare yourself. )

Symbolism Breakdown: (Element = Pony = Planet)
Kindness = Fluttershy = Neptune
Laughter = Pinkie Pie = Jupiter
Generosity = Rarity = Venus
Honesty = Applejack = Pluto
Loyalty = Rainbow Dash = Uranus
Magic = Twilight Sparkle = Saturn
(Kinna makes one imagine them as Sailor Scouts, doesn't it?)

I can't vouch for my astrological knowledge, but here's why I chose the planets I did to represent these ponies:

Neptune represents dreams and illusion, creativity, and music. For one thing, Fluttershy is an introvert. For another, she is often seen directing songbirds in chorus in the show.

Jupiter represents abundance, goodwill, and good luck, pretty much like a big happy face in the sky wherever it transits. Pinkie Pie is JUST like that----making ponies smile wherever she goes, and throwing parties to celebrate parties and other goofy reasons like that.

Venus represents love, feminine grace, and riches. Rarity, well, being a spoiled, materialistic fashionista.... Not to mention the object of Spike's adoration for much of the show.

Pluto represents finance. Applejack is constantly at work in her family's apple orchard, or elsewhere trying to sell their wares. Applejack's "Element of Harmony" is Honesty-----undoubtedly the most important trait in matters of business.

Uranus is an accelerant. Whatever else happens to be going on, Uranus just makes it go faster! I have a feeling Rainbow Dash would like the sound of that. At any given moment for which RBD is present onscreen, she seems more like a manic speed demon than a pegasus.

Saturn represents meticulous work, rules, and time. Twilight Sparkle is as egghead as they come, complete with a secret laboratory in the basement of the library where she lives, and her very own time-travel episode. She is also Princess Celestia's personal protege.

I couldn't just put the six ponies' cutiemarks because that would negate the whole idea that Nightmare Moon didn't actually have the Elements of Harmony at her disposal, and the whole idea that she had to wait a full thousand years for the planets to align perfectly so that she could use them as substitutes.

Now, if you thought THAT was an overload, wait until I post the Star Trek circle I'm designing in honor of Vic Mignogna! Muahahaha....

Alicorn/alacorn, a term used in the MLP fandom to refer to a winged unicorn (or a horned pegasus) was originally an alchemy term for a substance believed to be made from crushed unicorn horn. (Bro: ) The etymology behind its use in MLP is: ali ("wings") + corn ("horn").
