Description Saw post his version of this meme and I've been wanting to do this for a bit. I've got a LOT more influences. I feel this pretty accurately represents my current style.

It was a lot of fun, and a great exercise!

Thanks Evan!

I love that you tracked down the Mignola Mojo Jojo, I think the image people choose says a lot about them too. I think I may have used this font for one of Brian's books too

Precioso! Such good taste!! You're highly influenced by these people and even so, your style comes from nowhere to be seen. And that Bat Girl is so natural, full of movement-- these images just make eyes happy...

Thank you so much, I should do one of when I was in high school without a real style of my own.

Great stuff, dude!

I didn't know that's what Ikegami looks like!!

Thanks! It's surprisingly tough to find a real picture of him, usually he'll do a chibi caricature of himself. For years I couldn't find any, so I always thought he might be like steroided out, trying to look like his characters. Ikegami's artwork had a major influence on me when I was younger. I always wished I could see his process, obviously he used a lot of photo ref, but I still wanted to see how he put things together.

yea, I'm a little less mystified by his work now but a few years ago I was in utter awe at the consistent quality. Crying Freeman is kind of a masterpiece (although the story is...pretty... wow...). I always Ikegami himself looking like all those posed muscley business men.

Is it wrong that I've been reading his and Koike's work since I was 11? Hahaha, but yeah, Freeman's story is crazy, especially the one about the dopplegangers gets really weird really fast!

But that's nothing compared to some of his other work, like Offered...or WOUNDED MAN! A shirtless knife fight by two black ops guys somehow makes a group of cops chasing them walk away. That one is probably his weirdest by far.

But yeah, I always wondered where he got the reference for muscle men in business suits!

yea, reading Koike makes me feel like I'm tripping sometimes. Lone Wolf had its strange tales (wasn't there a story in there almost solely about the early incarnation of a woman's dildo?). I guess when your churning out stories week after week you really have to drag the bottom.

Dude, I've seen them live, and they ARE amazing! It was about 2 years ago, and Dick Valentine was trying to make my uncomfortable by singing to me and staring at me most of the time. At first it did make me uncomfortable, like, "is he serenading me?" Then I was like, "HEY, Dick Valentine is serenading me!!!" They did a 6 song set, then left, then pulled an encore of 7 more songs, then left us thinking there was a double-encore...but they just left that time! Totally made up for the opening acts, one of which was Local H, who were terrible.

HA! That sounds stupendous! The only song I heard from Local H that I liked was called "Heavy Metal Bakesale" I'm pretty sure it was a joke song, but it's still the ONLY one of theirs I even slightly enjoyed. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing them live, but I usually listen to them while I'm drawing.
