Description
EDIT: took Silky's advice and used the burn and dodge toolsfor the skin tones. They're insanely easier, and I feel like a total rere for not figuring that out by now, but thanks for letting me knowThe size makes it a bit difficult to see what I changed, but blown up in PS, it looked really much better.

ok, lemme say first that this lineart is not mine, but if anyone knows who it belongs too, please let me know so that i can give proper credit.
I took this and colored it simply because I loved the lineart and wanted to see what I could do in my snazzy new copy of cs3 as far as coloring goes. I didn't dare touch the background...I just don't do backgrounds.
on a side note, it was done as a oekaki, originally (or at least I think it would be classified as such) but I softened to lines after I colored the hair...I'm really picky about how I color Seph's hair (which is why the hair and I are in a love-hate relationship right now), and I wanted it to look as soft as possible...which made for the lines looking a little akward. I hope ppl don't tell me that I raped it D:
in any case, I'm submitting this more to see what others think of my photoshop coloring, now that it, at least in my eyes, has improved from [link]
I also didn't use any special brushes, since I wanted to see what I could get without them (and for some reason, photoshop on this compy doesn't like to let me download and/or use them)

You coloured the trousers really well. I would prefer to see the colours on the skin a bit less flat though. I'd advise you to colour the darker bits with a shade darker than the one you've used and also use the dodge tool or a plain brush with a lighter colour than your base to add a few lights where the light hits him. It would make him stand out more I think.

thank you I was hoping for something like that.
I was skeptical about using darker shades on the skin, since I have a hard time finding the right colors for shadows that aren't on something straight black or white, and sad but true, i don't even really know what the dodge tool does
mostly what it is is hesitation, (I guess that comes from working with colored pencils so much) but I should remember that there is that little handy ctrl+alt+z ,
I'll make the edit sometime, and resubmit, and I look forward to your opinion again. you are a goddess

What I'd suggest is play around with the dodge and burn tool sometime, just so you can see what they do. Photoshop is all about playing around and figuring out how things work. If in doubt, drop me a line and I'll help out!
