Description Page ae-3 of a book of etchings I'm making, with the comparison of earthly life to that from the alternate earth, AE-467d2, in order to illustrate an argument taking place within its pages between a skeptic of life on other worlds and a supporter of the theory that says we can't be alone in the universe(s). Hope the rest of the book is this cool *happywithprint*. The animal plate is distressed etching and a ton of drypoint, while the text plate is distressed and intentional-incorrectly applied photoetching.

...oh yeah, so anyway, this is two 5x7 zinc plates with one being sepia, and the other black ink. This is my proof, I wonder if it'll look nicer on Arches or Reeves bfk.

edit: larger version.

Gorgeous and gripping. There's such a great sense of that depth and gritty texture that I love. Beautiful.

People are silly. They'll learn to appreciate more, once they lose their fixation with the whole 'daily deviation' bit. Some people will watch you and comment on your other work. Others live only to comment on every piece selected as a daily deviation.
You'll see. You're good. Your work deserves more attention and it will get it *kiss*

You have a scanner, though, so it's not so difficult.
Maybe next time we Skype? I will remind ye.

Too many comments to think mine will stand out, but here goes anyway.

It makes me think of two things.

1. The obvious: Davinci. The sketches bear obvious resemblance to his works. I hope you'll take this as it was meant - a compliment.

2. One of my favorite games - Myst. Yes, it's a shallow comparison, but that game gave me a lot of happiness for many weeks. This was just reiterating good memories.

Thanks for the nostalgia. Keep up the good work.

; ) Thanks. Who doesn't admire the Master?

Myst, huh? Never played. I might have to pick it up.

Rushlight In reply to evanjensen [2007-01-31 16:42:27 +0000 UTC]

*Gasp* You've never played Myst? You def. need to get it then. Mind you, it's an old Win95 game, but I'd imagine it'll run on any Windows with a bit of tweaking. Keep an eye out for the Myst collector's edition. It has all 3 games (Myst, Riven, and the third, which I can't remember).

evanjensen In reply to Rushlight [2007-02-01 02:26:14 +0000 UTC]

That I could get down with. My girl swears by Myst, but I've never had the pleasure. I did play Return to Zork a long age ago.

Hrm. Old school games. Ah, nostalgia.

*Very* cool. I did printmaking in art not too long ago, only ours was on plexiglass. Love the concept of the design, and the sepia brings a nice mood to it. Well done!

Monoprints, on plexi? or did you scribe into the plastic? We did that in HS. Though the favorite method of mine is using the smooth plexi plate as a monotype surface. ; )

Thank you!

Nah, it was another sort... lith-something (I'm discussing it with a friend of mine and he can't remember either. ).
I have it! Intaglio. We did Intaglio on plexi. Fun stuff. I'm actually really fond of relief printing as well.
But yeah, you're welcome. =]]

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

evanjensen In reply to ViharElottiCsend [2007-01-25 03:47:07 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, intaglio just means you etch the surface somehow, and the ink goes in those grooves rather than the grooves being the negative space and the surface being inked, as in a woodcut. ; ) May we see the results of your drypoint etching?
