Urgh.... I was afraid of this. Rather than going for a pre-established antagonist with a real history and even a semi-personal vendetta against the characters (or their alternates), it ends up being one of those random, mindless, unstoppable forces that wants to destroy everything just because....it has no reason not to. Reminds me of that lame "Neverending Story" movie where the evil Nothing turned out to be some disappointment of a commentary on illiteracy and lack of imagination in kids.
To have everyone wondering "Who? Who? Who?!" going on a year now only to reveal it's a creature that I, as a Sonic-fan, have no meaningful relationship with just bites. Not even remotely inventive -- especially since something cunning and unexpected is what I've been looking forward to all this time. Anticlimactic washout, in my book.

Fear not, we have many more shoes to drop before the story's done! We're definitely not going with just a mindless force of nature sort of antagonist.
(This is an established-canon villain with a personal beef with Silver, which will be explored more; it's the Second Devourer from The Silver Age, which I also wrote)

I'm not too familiar with the Second Devourer (havn't kept up with the comics

I had hoped all those clues that it was the Second Devourer were just red herrings. I seriously didn't think you'd go for a creature that had only shown up once (aside from a cameo) in the entire series, whether or not you had a hand in its creation. It might be flexible in terms of mysteriousness and what you're able to do with it because of that, but open potential also has a very strong possibility for swallowing a plot with its lack of solid boundaries. Virtually nothing is known about the thing, and though you clearly have a plan, from our side it's just too arbitrary and we're left not knowing what to expect aside from some vague idea of it stoning every living being.
Something familiar would have been far more gratifying, especially since you'd been hinting from the beginning that we would know who it was. You had me rereading old issues of the comics, combing for possibilities and wondering what circumstances could result in this sort of future (my first theory was definitely Fleetway Super, my second was some devilish version of Finitevus). It was pretty maddening to find out the truth and realize I wasted that much brain-power trying to figure it out.
Maybe you can redeem it, but at the outset it certainly made me feel more ticked off than rewarded at the revelation. I know I sound brutal beating you up here, but I'm also trying to be honest. I've read a ton of books (much more than most people my age) and this is one of the signs of a wobbly plot that has a strong potential for bombing. I am really praying you can pull it off.

It was kinda obvious that it was Second Devourer. It has a grudge against Silver, or at least a version of him, and Evan is the one who created it so she would be able to use it now that Archie has decided to stop publishing.

Obvious or not, I had hoped for a more substantial antagonist. Seriously... Who is it? What is it? Why is it bent on killing everyone? What motivates it besides the carnal desire for destruction? These are questions that can be answered when it comes to just about every enemy in the Sonic franchise... except for the Time Eater and this thing.Β

Well I guess it's up to your interpretation of what you think it is until we get an explanation. Kinda like Infinite in the new game. I think he might have a connection to Tails since he looks a little like him. That probably isn't his backstory, but until we have confirmation it's fun to think up theories.

Let me just say the excited anticipation that's been motivating me regarding this angle has been officially shot through the heart. I was expecting something classic that I would have a connection to in some way or another. Instead we got.....that thing. *blink blink* What she does with it is another question altogether. If it had been Mammoth Mogul, Fleetway Super or even some crazy incarnation of Eggman I could have been satisfied. This was nothing short of a frustrating letdown.

Purple Super Scourge is already pretty rad, but Gold Super Scourge seems to be fueled by, breathing, and made of radness alone
