Description
Since it's up now on Facebook, I think I can post the model sheet for Whisper the Wolf! She'll debut in IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog #8, and I had the privilege of not only drawing the issue but also designing her. Enjoy!It's a rare treat to get to design a character, and I'm especially proud of the thought process that went into this character's look!

Its been a few years since Sega and Archie parted ways. But I never found the reason why they canceld the Sonic comics.
Did you ever hear why the comic suddenly was cancelled?

I really adore her design! One thing I'm curious about tho - you've mentioned references to kitsune with things like her mask and eyes. Is there a reason why she's a wolf and not a fox?

Because she was originally conceived of as a wolf, then the kitsune mask theme came later-- we weren't sure it would fly, but Sega of Japan was cool with it since in some older interpretations of Japanese mythologies, wolves have a very similar role to foxes.

The comics are their own separate continuity, I'm afraid. But I've seen some people create her in the Avatar builder in "Forces"; so technically, I guess she's playable already.

Whisper has such a wonderful design! I love how her eyes are always closed (except when extremely angry); it gives something quite charming to her look.

Yep! I work for IDW on the official Sonic books. I designed Whisper, and so far I've draw Sonic issues 4, 8, and parts of 10 and 11. I'm working on 12 right now. Before that I worked for Archie Comics, and wrote, designed, and drew lots of stuff on their Sonic books too!

She is a great character. I love everything about her so far. I wanna know how she ties into Eggman. After reading issue 8 I know there is more to her than meets the eye. Also I know a little of people are already shipping her with Silver( Which I am cool with. I like Whilver and Silvaze) but for some reason I can't help but imagine her getting together with Shadow.

That's probably her design. The "squinting eyes" was an option in Sonic Forces.
