Description
This is my idea for a Sonic game. (that's right, I'm lookin' at you, SEGA).It's meant to be in the "storybook" sub-series, like "Sonic and the Secret Rings", and "Sonic and the Black Knight", and this time Sonic gets sucked into the world of the Greek Myths.
Sonic is accompanied by Iris, (Shahra), Goddess of Rainbows and messenger to the higher Gods. She gives him the wings off of Hermes' sandals, giving him the power of flight to aid in his quest to collect the Seven Pestilences, which the foolish and greedy King Midas (Eggman) accidentally released from Pandora's Box.
How does Sonic collect the Pestilences? Well, each one has infected the hero of a different myth, putting those characters and their stories in grave danger.
I haven't figured out all the details, but I think Sonic will have to:
-Save Icarus (Tails) from falling to his death into the ocean, thus collecting the pestilence of Pride.
-Helping Hercules (Knuckles) finish his Twelve Labors, and collecting Sloth.
-Beating the crap out of Achilles (Shadow) and collecting Wrath. (A la Perfect Chaos)
I haven't thought of the rest yet. Rouge would probably be Lust, Vector'd be Greed, Amy-- Envy, (And Eggman Gluttony). I just can't think of the characters they'd play. ('cept Eggy).
Also, when Sonic recaptures a pestilence, it's corresponding Virtue is freed, fixing the Myth that has been damaged.

I absolutely love your idea! However, I feel as though it shouldn't be like a story book because that lack s the originality of the subject. You could make it with the multiple characters opening up stories. and how they got to be where they are and they have their own fight scenes and help defeat the king... For instance you start of with Sonic being the first person the gamer must play, and each god he defeats or wins over gets unlocks their own story! That would be cool! Also, I would love to see some romance in this game... I do not know if you are a SonAmy fan or not but I love the idea of their being romance between them in at least on game! Maybe Amy could be sucked in by the box because she has a power Eggman needs or something and that is when Sonic goes to save her along with Iris. You could keep Amy as the goddess of Envy, that would just be another version of her, or you could make Cream the goddess instead. (If you feel as though I am changing your entire game please let me know)...
Anyway, I know I sound demanding, and I am sorry for that but, YES you do have a great game idea and you should try to get it out their with the Sonic Game Creator Team or SEGA or something! If your game was to ever come out I would certainly buy it!

I think I could give you some ideas for the characters for example you could make Amy Medea, Jason's wife who he cheats on with a rich princess prompting her to (out of ENVY) murder her children and flee to Athens
Rouge could be Aphrodite who was well renown for being a bit of a floosy

Actually, that would make a great game. As well as other ideas like The Never Ending Story or a Sonic/DragonQuest 9 crossover when you play as Sonic on his quest to find 7 fyggs, after beating Corvus and recovering all seven fyggs, you can use the one you are given at the end to either wish to go home with your team or go on another adventure in the DQ universe thus using the last fygg and remain trapped in the DQ universe forever.

From what I remember, the Sonic storybook games have Sonic star as the main of the stories, such as Aladdin in Sonic and the Secret Rings, and Arthur in Sonic and the Black Knight.
What character will Sonic play as?
Jason from Jason and the Argonauts, Odysseus from Odyssey, Perseus fromΒ Perseus and the Gorgon Medusa, or what?

I put him in the role of Hermes, but if you want a specific hero I guess Perseus would make the most sense as he's the only hero who wore Hermes' winged sandals.

I don't think the Icarus/Tails idea would work. See, in the Icarus legend, Icarus's dad(can't remember the name) gives him a pair of wings but warns him not to fly too close to the sun or the wax on the wings would melt off. However, Icarus does not listen, flies really high into the sky(hey I rhymed there!), the wax melts off his wings, and he plummets into the ocean below. As for everything else, it's perfect except for the Iris/Shahra part. See, Shahra wasn't in Sonic and the Black Knight and was only in Sonic and the Secret Rings. So, Iris should be a completely different character, but still look about the same as Shahra and Merlina(I think that's her name. I haven't played in a while). But everything else is perfect and I would TOTALLY buy this game. The way you have it right now, I'd only buy it to complete my Sonic Storybook Collection. Otherwise I would play it.Β

You're right about Icarus-- I was basically combining his character with his dad (Google says his name's Daedalus), making them one character. That way you get to make use of Tails' cleverness while still cashing in on the most recognizable parts of the Icarus story. It would also tie in well if I wanted to use the Minotaur and the Labyrinth, as Daedalus built the Labyrinth... actually, I'd probably make Midas and Minos the same person too in that case.
As for Shahra, I think I made this picture before Black Knight had come out, or at least before I'd played it. Iris would be taking the same place that Shahra or Merlina takes, as they seem to me to be alternate universe versions of the same woman.

Actually, Hermes is only responsible for ferrying lost souls to the Underworld. The duties of Messenger of the Gods strictly belong to Iris.

I was thinking that maybe instead of sonic characters being the sins, how about they are fairies, and characters like Rouge is Aphrodite, goddess of love, and Blaze be Athena, goddess of Wisdom and Battle, and Amy I was thinking Hestia, goddess of the hearth, and maybe, uhm, Idk maybe i guess Hermes being Silver, and yeah I have some Aphrodite/rouge and blaze/athena designs already just building on your idea, and I was also thinking, maybe you could make a group about this, get deviants to make some idea's put it all together and somehow email it to SeGA, in hopes they at least consider this? No but really I love you for this. I'm still kinda finding suitable characters for the gods and maybe one of the Heroes you should add is Perseus, and they should bring back some old characters like Sally Acorn could be idk Artemis, goddess of the moon? And Bean the Dynamite as the god of war, Ares? Just ideas.

Atalanta, i believe, was one of the few, if not the only, Greek feamle hero. Not counting the goddesses. She was a huntress. I think the best one to play her part would be Amy, maybe as a reference to "Sonic The Comic" whee she has a crossbow. Also if we were to put in marine and Blaze then Blaze could be Eris Goddess of Chaos (y'know fire is destructive and chaotic) and Marine would be Whoever Posiedins wife was. I wish somebody would make this a game, story or comic!

I've read somewhere that sonic and pandora's box was the acual work title. Still, giving him the shoes of hermes would be a great power up from this game in the same way caliburn was in the black knight.
Too bad the entire thing is shelved permanently though =c I would have LOVED to see this thing being made!
