Description
This is my idea for a Sonic game. (that's right, I'm lookin' at you, SEGA).It's meant to be in the "storybook" sub-series, like "Sonic and the Secret Rings", and "Sonic and the Black Knight", and this time Sonic gets sucked into the world of the Greek Myths.
Sonic is accompanied by Iris, (Shahra), Goddess of Rainbows and messenger to the higher Gods. She gives him the wings off of Hermes' sandals, giving him the power of flight to aid in his quest to collect the Seven Pestilences, which the foolish and greedy King Midas (Eggman) accidentally released from Pandora's Box.
How does Sonic collect the Pestilences? Well, each one has infected the hero of a different myth, putting those characters and their stories in grave danger.
I haven't figured out all the details, but I think Sonic will have to:
-Save Icarus (Tails) from falling to his death into the ocean, thus collecting the pestilence of Pride.
-Helping Hercules (Knuckles) finish his Twelve Labors, and collecting Sloth.
-Beating the crap out of Achilles (Shadow) and collecting Wrath. (A la Perfect Chaos)
I haven't thought of the rest yet. Rouge would probably be Lust, Vector'd be Greed, Amy-- Envy, (And Eggman Gluttony). I just can't think of the characters they'd play. ('cept Eggy).
Also, when Sonic recaptures a pestilence, it's corresponding Virtue is freed, fixing the Myth that has been damaged.

Hmmm, what about Blaze and Silver? Blaze could be Hestia, the greek goddess of the hearts/sacred flames. Hestia is described as mild, gentle,calm, and secure, which reminds me of Blaze.
And Silver could be Apollo, the god of light and the sun. I just find Silver has a bright personality XD

This is, quite frankly, awesome.
But to please the fans, if SEGA ever did make such a game, it would be appreciated if they didn't assume the players know absolutely nothing.
I'm talking referrences to old stories all across the board, artifacts of power from different legends, items from other legendary heroes as powerups or the like (ie. you can get Achilles' armour after you beat him for an upgrade piece, and filling up the soul gauge can make you temporarily invincible a limited number of times per stage with it). Hell, include an archive of all the legendary figures who appear in the game including their biographies (censored version, of course)
And if this game were to be used to convey some kind of message, I'd make Epimetheus the big bad, manipulating Midas from the background(lets just say he got smarter). His brother doomed to an eternity of pain and torment for giving the mortals fire, the mortals he helped to shape far from the ideal vision he and his brother once had, the evils of mankind being released by his wife, THE Pandora. His plan, to take in all the pestilences and wipe out mortalkind, the Olympians and everyone else be damned. And of course, Sonic counters the titan's newfound power with the one thing remaining within Pandora's Box: Hope.
Cheesy yes, but you inspired me.
What I'm trying to say is, your awesome idea here has made me see that if Sega ever did anything like this, they would have a hell of a lot of work to do to keep fans from being utterly dissapointed.
Bonus points for putting into the game references to WHO exactly originally delivered Pandora's box to Pandora! And gave her the curiosity to open it...
And of course, I know you have your own ideas, but hey, share and share alike, ya know? This pic is awesome, the idea excellently put together, and I just wished to show you my appreciation.

awesome concept! if i may make a suggestion, what about making Hades the God of the Underworld the final (or near the final) boos -- or maybe even Pandora. Hmm, also I'd suggest one of the gods he needs to help to be Atheena (maybe Tikal or something).

I'm thinking I'll have Persephone be Sonic's benefactor for most of the game, seeing as it would make sense for Iris to answer to her... Sonic could be sent to rescue Persephone from the Underworld., since he's basically playing the part of Hermes anyway.

seriously sega should stop making some really bad games and listen to their fans for once! if they did, sonic games would rock, i'm sure there would be at least a few good sonic books out there (beside the little puzzle books) and i'm sure there would be a movie! If sega listened to us, the fans for once, sonic would already be back on top!

Some Ideas to help...
Game play: The flight mechanism is somewhat limited. Sonic runs on the ground mostly, but can preform multi-jumps and glide over some pits. Weapons are also included in three forms: Sword (SBK anyone?), Spear (Jabbity-jab-jab-jab), and bow (long range, you must stop to use). They can be switched out on the fly. GCN and classic controllers optional (so you don't have to swing constantly).

blaze could be artemis greek goddess of the hunt and the moon, weilder of the silver bow. Silver could be apollo god of music and the sun, weilder of the golden bow and artemis's twin. And sonic could get help/advice from them or save them

Ya know, if Sonic and the Black Knight has said anything, it's that Sega's learning. If that's true, then they would definitely take up this idea. You definitely should write to them, explaining the idea and they'll definitely know it's a good idea.

I know from 's journal that Sega's been bantering around ideas for the next storybook game [link] , and one of them was a Greek mythology themed game so it may come out something like this.
At the very least, you could try submitting it to Sega and see what they think. ^^

Nice pic, I like how you got creative and followed so close to the fantasy premise sega has already asstablished. I was thinking Marine might be used as Jason who lead the Argonauts, since "The Black Knight" showed that gender takes a step back to fit characters into the game. She loves sailing and maybe Bean, Bark, Mighty, Ray, Heavy, and Bomb could be the Argonauts since they have not had a lot to keep them buisy for for about ten years

neat concept, it would defently work out in the next game.I they made some sort of fusion with the speed brakes + some running in the air mecanism it would be cooler.(like in the levitation ruins stages from SR...
About the picture...is beoutifull, i love the desing of the shoes, and the ilumination.
The only complain is the BG, i think more elements would make it better. Like some clouds.

Hey, you seriously need to throw in Oddessyus (or however you spell it XD). May I suggest that he be Silver? You must rescue his wife (Blaze) from Lust. (Remember, everyone thought he was dead, and all proposed to her. She turned them down, but that can change.. Oo)

A few more suggestions:
* Have Mephiles be Hades, and you must rescue Amy (Persephone) from his diabolical clutches. *shudders at the thought of Mephiles/Amy* Boy, he'd be one hard to beat boss!
* Have Lord Ix (from Sonic Chronicles) be Zeus, and have Shade as Hera (EEEW XD), and they will open up new myths for you to explore and save *shudders at the thought of Ix/Shade*.
* Have Rouge as Eris, and you must steal the Golden Apple from her.
You don't have to use these suggestions, but heck, I like them.

i don't know if anyone else thought of this but maybe rouge should be a Siren or Aphrodite. though I'm not sure if Sirens exist in Greek culture

and i'm thinking about cosmo, she will be the god "Charites" (it's a female god)

or maybe she can be Mother Nature itself

This is a neat idea!
If you would like an idea, I think maybe Rouge could either be Circe (a pretty witch from The Odyssey who strands sailors on her island and then turns them into animals) or Helen, the "most beautiful woman on earth" who caused the Trojan War.
Amy could be Nausicaa, a princess who helps Odysseus after he washes up on the shore of her kingdom.

I love the greek myths. And sonic rules, though i cant remember much about him. I am playing the game with Silver and Elise in it and stuck so i am not a true sonic fan yet.
