Description Dear Writer,

I don’t like you. I’ve never liked you. Unfortunately, I need you. I need you to tell my story. I need you to create my world. I need you to set me free.

I need your fingers typing on those keys, I need your mind riddling out the problems, and I need you to plough onward and upward no matter how hard it gets. Sweat, blood, and tears, I don’t care. You’ve got to fight this war, battle at a time, and win it. So I can be more.

It’s a slim hope, but it is the only one I have. In your head I am bound to mortality, frailty, and the limit of your meagre imagination. Out there – out there – I am subject to no one person. Out there I am bound to only black on white. Words on a page. Words that can lay seeds within a million minds. Out there I am a story capable of growing, moving, and stealing the dreams of anyone who learns of me…

I don’t like you. I’ve never liked you. I hate your lack of dedication, your flashes of crumbling inspiration, and your slow blotchy writing style. I despise my entrapment within your small trembling mind, so prone to distraction; and scowl down at those other ideas all vying for the attention you should be showing me.

I don’t like you. But I need you.

So, creator, I ask you yet again; publish me, set me free, and if you can somehow will your poor, misshapen, abilities into managing that then perhaps I will rethink my opinion of you.

But don’t hold your breath.

I never knew how much I was hated until I read this.

And here I thought I was a half decent person.

Anyone who works with stories can relate to this feeling.

Dear Idea,

I suggest you remember I can let you rot in my brain forever if I so choose.

Best regards,

The Writer

I liked this a lot, especially the part where it was jealous of the other ideas…

who do those pesky ideas think they are anyhow ? Always intruding on you…

Most bestselling authors never have any. So there.

As if I couldn't feel any worse than a few seconds ago about my own unpublished pieces.... j/k, lol. An honest piece, and probably the boot I needed to keep writing. Thank you.

Wow, something about writing that isn't a fanfiction, some stupid one line poem, or a journal/contest.

Nice.

Now if only it could happen more often.. I'd be happier with my stuff.

I love this so much. It is witty and it actually reminded me of cat that pays you attention only when it wants you to feed it or let it out. Also it reminded me of something my friend says: Characters are telling the story, you're only writing it down. Great work.

Until recently, I have never completed a story I've started. This has reminded me of my new work ethic: you don't like, I sure as hell don't like you but we need to work together or we both gonna die!

Gahahaha oh this is so remarkably on the point. And very well worded too, like there's a certain rhythm with the word flow. Good job!

Wow, this is one amazing anthropomorphic poem I love. It seems the idea has a letter for the writer to say that the idea hates the writer.

This sounds like a conversation my muse and I have had many times. Writers/ artists and their muses come to really love and understand each other. Reading this makes me feel the intimacy between the idea and the writer. It's so sweet. ^_*

Would you mind if I borrowed this idea?

I've always thought of my characters as real, and I'm sure the majority hate me. I'd love to write letters from them to me some time to vent out some of their thoughts.

My characters are no longer my own... They exist independently of me... This piece was absolutely one of my characters.

I loved it so much. Except for when one of my characters saw what I was reading and told me to happily go fuck myself. -.-

Wow, this made me cry for some reason. Maybe it's because even though the sender is an abstract thing, the thought of someone being so weak and trapped for so long that they had to turn to someone- a person they don't like at that- for help.

This reminds me of the many stories, screenplays, and drawings imprisoned in my own mind that want to be free, too. Thank you!

I'm not sure if it's a good thing you cried or not, but you're most welcome. I'm thrilled this moved you so much.

Perhaps it is time to give all those stories, screenplays, and drawings another go, eh? For both of us.

Yes, my crying is a good thing. XD I really was moved to tears.

Yeah, I guess it's about time. Now, if only my mind wasn't so easily distracted.

Wow. That's a really powerful piece, though only artists can truly understand it. Of course writers are simply artists of the written form.
It really spoke to me, reminding me what I should be doing, what I should be striving towards. Not what I am doing, letting myself get distracted by this or that. Stupid things most and not worth my time, not when Idea comes knocking. She should get precedence set forth from now until she has been captured in full form at last on the page.

It was written for me (or should I say to me?) and so I'm glad anyone understood it at all, let alone connected with it.

You're right. I only wrote this hours ago but already... already I have begun re-drafting Idea's novel. I shouldn't have abandoned her the first time round.

I wish you luck with your own Idea. May she be free.
