Dear Writer,I don’t like you. I’ve never liked you. Unfortunately, I need you. I need you to tell my story. I need you to create my world. I need you to set me free.
I need your fingers typing on those keys, I need your mind riddling out the problems, and I need you to plough onward and upward no matter how hard it gets. Sweat, blood, and tears, I don’t care. You’ve got to fight this war, battle at a time, and win it. So I can be more.
It’s a slim hope, but it is the only one I have. In your head I am bound to mortality, frailty, and the limit of your meagre imagination. Out there – out there – I am subject to no one person. Out there I am bound to only black on white. Words on a page. Words that can lay seeds within a million minds. Out there I am a story capable of growing, moving, and stealing the dreams of anyone who learns of me…
I don’t like you. I’ve never liked you. I hate your lack of dedication, your flashes of crumbling inspiration, and your slow blotchy writing style. I despise my entrapment within your small trembling mind, so prone to distraction; and scowl down at those other ideas all vying for the attention you should be showing me.
I don’t like you. But I need you.
So, creator, I ask you yet again; publish me, set me free, and if you can somehow will your poor, misshapen, abilities into managing that then perhaps I will rethink my opinion of you.
But don’t hold your breath.

Dear Idea, "I don't like you", "I like you"... that is for children. As mature beings we want to create. You want me to set you free and as an idea, muse, inspiration, you also set me fee. I am the writer and I also need you.
My fingers type on the keys for you to become alive. The characteristics of your face are not defined, they can morph at my will. You don't have a specific body or age or personality. You are everyone and anyone to me. Yes, you can be more with me.
You believe that you are bound to the limits of my imagination, but the truth is that you destroy the boundaries of my thoughts. Only you can bring those words on a page alive. Only you, my muse, and I love your spirit, your life.
We are not entrapped with each other. When we are united we are free. When we are together we experience the privilege of existing without restraints. When we are apart, we are lifeless, slaves of obscurity.
I need you.

im too tired to write...and you are not the only one who wants my attention, nearly every night while im at WORK....a new voice calls...."me! pick me!", but as i leave, i am too tired and drained of my own emotions to lift yours up, i am sorry idea, you are gone the way of the raven until i can walk amongst the sunlight, i remember your face but your name eludes me idea, so when i come back to you, you are gone

Dear Idea,
Maybe if you weren't such a jerk we could get together more often. I'm always trying to get a hold of you, but you constantly dodge my calls. Then when you finally show up its at the worst possible times, like when I'm at the grocery store or stuck in the bathroom at a Mexican restaurant. Friendship is a two way street you know.

You are genius. This is powerful, and this is good, and above all it is true.

This is a powerful piece of writing. It may not be the best or the most beautiful piece, but the meaning behind it has a lot of power. Sometimes that is what can make a story so captivating, when the idea is dark and gritty and makes you keep going on not because it is necessarily the best thing you've ever read, but because it engages you and keeps your mind focused on the story and the characters itself. Not to say that a story should NOT be well written. That is generally implied. If you want to have your novel/short story published, it should be well rounded and well written. Though, that sadly does not seem to the the case nowadays. Almost anything can be sent to a publisher and they will publish it, i.e. Fifty Shades of Grey.
Anyhow, back to what I was originally trying to say. I have felt this before so much. I love my characters and the story that goes with it, as I am sure every author does, but I am such an easily distracted person. Sometimes I can just feel the anger and resentment. I should have given my Idea the attention it deserves, not because I am the best one to tell the tale, but because I am the only one that can tell the tale. I am the only one that can release my Idea unto the world, because I am the only one that can possibly understand it at this premature level.

The mind's a toybox, you take an idea out and play with it and maybe put it back. Sometimes they lay in the box for decades, waiting. Eventually you share the toys with others, but most of the time nobody else is interested in them (too boring, too old)
