Description
The planet is a patchwork when seen from a distance; a seemingly random spotting of grey and green with small steaks and flecks of black. Shadows from a chunky ring of asteroids caught in the planet's pull are spotted across its surface. Two suns, a small yellow one and a large red one, lurk nearby. Both giants spin face to face, captives of each other, oblivious to the small planet and its host of rocks whirling chaotically around first smaller yellow, then the larger red.
We call that planet Helsttea.
And Helsttea is where we are.
Closer to the surface of the plant's patchwork skin becomes rough and coated in ring shaped cities linked by long aboveground roads and underground industrial highways. Huge gouges in the ground rest in the middle of each city; massive mouths to the belowground mining complexes. Some are hidden behind columns of billowing grey and brown smoke.
Between cities the open rocky ground is scattered with old mines, old cities and the old white corpses of massive trees all slowly being buried under fast rooted weeds. Forests still stretch behind distant black walls and hold within them a small scattering of even smaller cities. Some large wild places still exist even beyond those; jungles strangling mountain ranges and forests clinging to the sides of cliffs.
This is the face of Helsttea.
We exist on it, in it, and above it.
The cities are stacked around their mines under a sky of duel suns and are threaded through with narrow streets and tracks for public transport. Thick black pipes cling to the side of each tower, decorated with graffiti. Drones hover from pipe to pipe, checking and rechecking for problems. Occasionally one can be seen repairing damages or reprogramming function, acting under the control of a distant operator.
A few large trees still stand in the cities, their roots claiming what would otherwise be blocks of buildings and huge but few sail-like leaves leaving chunks of the city close to the ground in constant natural shade. Under those, huge majestic homes often decorated with black stone pillars stand. Under fake canopies other businesses operate just above street level and the few scattered temples rest slightly higher.
Higher up and closer to the mine are the small apartments, near the noise of the elevated highways and smog of the mines. Deeper into the tangle of the city those apartments give out to entertainment joints, clubs and frequent criminal organizational fronts.
The ground is bare.
This is the Helsttea we know.
This is where you will find us; the Helstteans.

Very vivid picture. Sounds like an unfortunate wasteland and make me curious if it was always as dead as it seems on the surface or something happened that caused it to be this way.
I really love the concept of people having vast cities underground - it sounds so mysterious and potentially complicated! Like a little maze or giant set of catacombs!
Most of all though I love the concept of the two suns! It always sounds so fantastic when described/seen. :3
Makes me wonder how the planet orbits though. x_X

Yes, the Planet has undergone a lot of changes due to industrialization and urbanization.
I personally am of the belief that any kind of society structure that does not adapt the environment is forced to adapt to the environment and therefore can not be advanced to the degree Helstteans are. Of course, due to this the environment inevitably changes as it has done here on earth.
And yes, duel suns is an idea I am more than keen for. I'm glad you see it in the same light!
Also, I am glad you like it! We share a Galaxy after all, and I would hate for us to be at odds with each other. Thanks for the watch as well by the way.
