The story is of a story that got forgotten, swallowed, by a subplot. Written as a rather small protest to those many overactive subplots, side quests, etc. that plague storytelling.

However (and I should have made it more obvious in my post) is that it was more of a reply to the PS part of your artist comments and maybe the word you were looking for was storyline.
